Seen its getting a little stale on here so lets get something going without bashing and drama just flat race talk. Any vulgar or bashing post will be removed from this topic.
At the different series/tracks who participate in figure 8 racing what has really impressed your or disappointed you about this season? Who do you see rein supreme with a championship in all the series why or how do you for see this happening? As I mainly participate at the speedrome I see things looking up into a great new beginning the new track procedures stay as they have been the last several weeks. Lets get a good constructive post going like this site was started and intended for. helping figure 8 racing get back to where it once was and thrive in this terrible economic time. -------------------- Call today if you are wanting to sale any junk or runable vehicle

I've only been to Speedrome a couple of times this year but from what I hear on here things seem to be turining around and that is a good thing. Now to Sportsdrome I have not followed the points races that close but what I don't understand the lower front wheel drive car count. Early in the year they had more cars on the 8. It seems most if not all of them run the oval which has plenty of cars and in the course of heats and features cars do break. Maybe some of the better fwd figure 8 cars and drivers should stick to the 8. In general I've been disappointed with the car counts in most figure 8 races. I know it is because of the times we live in. Last the week the Speedrome Late Model had 18 cars which is about 10 to 12 cars down from a few years ago. The last hornet 8 showed only 3 cars which I don't understand unless it is because of the cost of the tires. The last stock 8 only had 9 cars. The last Sportsdrome extreme 8 had 19 cars and the last dromer 8 had only 15 after some cars broke in the oval. One recent fwd 8 only shows 9 cars in the results. I think both tracks are doing a pretty good job but I would like to see more cars in all the 8 divisions. One more thing evelone when you post Flat Rock or Toledo results can we get a car count please?

Couple of things have stood out this season:
1. Johnny Hargraves starting off the season looking like he was shoot out of a cannon. The First IOFS race was the fastest I have ever seen Johnny. It was good to see someone different out front. 2. In figure 8 racing consistancy makes you great. With the lower car counts hitting your marks and being consistant is crucial. It is amazing how many drivers struggle with this. On the other hand it is pretty cool to see a few drivers able to stay in contintion for wins in slower cars. 3. Points championships take much more thought than just showing up and winning. You have to have a plan and exicute that plan. Every single championship has its little quarks that you have to think your way through. 4. Warriors: I tip my hat to every single driver that raced through this hot summer. Thankfully we did not loose anyone do to the added stress on the body. -------------------- JR Rouse

In the quote I took out all but this point to make my point. To people who go to Speedrome every week it seems obvious Doug Greig is not trying to win on the oval but is finishing in 2nd, 3, or 4th all the time. Doug did not make the system he is simply taking advantage of it going for the 10k championship bonus. I have no problem with it. For example with Sportsdrome lineups set by average points per night we have on driver who has won 3 or 4 oval features but has also dropped out with engine and other issues some nights. He usally starts ahead of some cars that have not won. Is he cheating or is Doug Greig cheating. NO. They are simply racing the with the rules set the way they are. |

Completely agree with you. I do not care where you race or what you race, points championships take strategy. Is it cheating.... NO! Rules were written at some point. Everyone that runs for points aggrees to them. They agree by showing up week after week. Normally when a driver exposes the quark in the rules to gain max points week in week out, then the others complain. There are 2 solutions to this #1 change it in the off season. #2 drivers take care of the situation. Using your example, drivers would either all slow down and force him to win. Doug would find the spin cycle each week. Or a number of other creative ways to punish him. I agree Doug has done nothing wrong, hate the game not the player....lol -------------------- JR Rouse

Biggest upset driver tis year is Ben Tunny for me I thought he would have been stronger during the years like we have seen him in the past and right there in the sport for that championship with that one hour. But he hasnt been ther elike the last 2 years.

i agree johnny hargraves was awsome at start of the season but has not
showed the speed last few races. the ifos this year has been very good at anderson this year. lots of fans in the stands and car count has been ok to. i didnt care much for outlaw 100 ovel. but there was a lot people there. vanderhoff has been great this year every place he has run except the last race in ohio. he,s been points leader for iofs for much of the .and he had that speedrome race till he ran in to trouble. he has stepped it up big time. for the speedrome for me its mark tunny that guy is great he dosnt run for a long time shows up for that united states race and kicked everybodys ass just like he never left. then comes right back and wins another 100 lapper at the speedrome. and goes down to sportsdrome and wins there. thats good stuff |

#1 and I'm a little biased on this one Jeff A. Smith in my car the 35 stocker. We have been on a very limited budget and have been running a lot of borrowed parts. the thing that gets me is we run on used tires and set fast time a few times we have won four features and the kennys 100 trophy dash and a few heats. there is nothing high dollar on the car right down to a drum brake stock gm rearend. however we still run up front. Jeff missed four features this year (two that I drove, One where we were disinvited, and one where the Peters Pack as a group chose to load up and leave as a group) However he drove his but off and got to eighth in points to start the chase and has since gained more points than anyone else in the chase and sits fourth with three races to go.
#2 Speedy Teepe and Nigel Peters great guys to race with and will give you anything they have to keep you racing and without them and Dave Peters we wouldn't have a car out there. they drive aggressive every night but they drive clean and hard. and they try to win races not points race. (like King Richard said if you win all the races the points will take care of theirself) I honestly believe if we hadn't loaded up and left one night with the entire group that the points would be different right now #3 Andrew Teepe this kid is just awesome on the race track. there was a lot of crying about his car and that it was illegal and this and that but let me tell you the only thing that wasn't stock on the car was new struts and that aint cheating. he has already won one segment championship and on the way to two. and done while driving clean and passing on the highside and has 7 features I think so he is the winningest driver at the drome I believe. #4 Jesse Tunny I say this because he has shown patience and skill behind the wheel all season, Yes he has a brand new car but that means nothing it was a chassis design different than he has ran before but him and the guys figured it out pretty good. Jesse had problems with the 57 car saturday night and jumped in Riddles 49 car that he never even practiced and ran a hell of a figure 8 race. #5 RJ Norton 3 three feature wins this year and two of them on the 8 like his dad said saturday the kids turning into a damn good figure 8 racer. Just my thoughts for now but maybe I will add later ............. -------------------- ![]() |
