Jamie opened what seemed like the million'th door this day, and stepped into the control room for the Danger Room. He walked over to the control panel and looked into the danger room that lay beyond the transparent blast sheild

"Where the hell is my office!" Cursed Jamie, shaking his fists at the heavens. Deafeated, he slumped forward, using both of his hands to brace himself on the control panel before him.

An audible click caused his head to snap up. His left hand had depressed a button on the console, and a small light now blinked red at the upper left of it. "Oops."

"Oops." Echoed Jamies voice throughout the Mansion.

Must've been the intercom control he thought to himself. Oh well, might as well make the best of this

"Uhh...all available personel report to the Danger Room for group training." He announced, and then turned off the intercom. Somebody had to know where his office was, after all.

Still, Jamie was not one to take chances, so he clapped his hands 13 times in rapid sucession. 13 multiples now stood before him.

"Go find my friggin office." He ordered. As one the multiples turned and began to smartly exit the room. "But not you J13."

J13 stopped in the doorway with an audible cringe, and slowely turned back to Jamie. "Sir?"

"I've had a rough day," Said Jamie smiling, "And could use a good laugh."

"So you'll be running the excersise with whoever shows up."

"Great." Muttered J13

Jean

She pressed a button and the locker door slid open. It was the locker closest to the sinks. As the longest female resident, she had her pick ... as the only girl around most of the time, she had it all to herself.

As she changed, the idea of Jamie as Dean came into her head and she smiled to herself. Jamie... the guy who had to be here kicking and screaming... and ran away more times than she could remember, was now in charge; the universe had a wicked sense of humor. Maybe this was one of the professor's tests... pushing Jamie to take things more seriously... be less selfish and think about others. How far behind him were the days when he'd fill an auditorium with dupicates and do stand-up comedy, just to hear their applause?

New uniforms... she pulled out the black leather with re-enforced knees and elbows. 'Makes us look like a biker gang,' she thought. Still, uniforms were what separated them from being merely a collection of busy-bodies who stuck their noses in places others didn't want them to be.

Alex showed up to the Danger Room, confused. "Group training? Was that for everyone?"

He was dressed in his containment suit, leather padding over top it. He pulled his headpiece over his blond hair and said, "This should be interesting."

J13 walked into the mens locker room attached to the Danger Room, looked at Havok, and managed a weak smile. He was surprised to find that he had a locker of his own. It simply read J13. He opened the locker, half expecting it to explode. His relief that it did not was short lived as he pulled out his "uniform".

J13 was prodominantly desplayed, on both shoulders, but it was the logo in the center of the chest that was most annoying.

J13 held it out for Havok to see. A bulls-eye domintaed the front of the uniform.

"Just friggin great." Muttered J13.

Alex laughed at the uniform and opened the front of his leather over suit. Emblazoned across the chest of the black containment suit, a display shone in concentric circles, "I have a bullseye of my own. Don't worry, us targets have to stick together."

The twins having briefly been cheered at the prospect of small explosives strode into the boy's locker room. Jasper Sue talked anxiously to his twin about their fears. Things could go bad very, very quickly for them. They were already under suspicion. Warren and Jamie had been very nice, sure, but what about the rest of the team? Everyone had called them names. The world outside of the commune was a weird place. Hadn't Forrest and Harmony said as much?

"This place," Sue mumbled to his brother. "We're going if this crap happens again, bro."

The heels of their boots striking against the concrete of the locker room seemed to echo as they approached their lockers.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." It had been luck that they hadn't seen anyone since then. Of course, spending all their time in the woods and other various out-of-the-way places, probably had something to do with it.

"We can only do what we do. If there's trouble, they'll be the ones to start it. Besides... riding the rails to get home might be fun. What did you bring?" Dakota said finding a uniform and getting dressed.

Sue, also changing into his uniform, shrugged eloquently. Despite their generally relaxed nature he didn't want to get burned twice because of other people's closed minds. He zipped up the front of his costume and paused.

"Just some penny crackers, Roman candles, firecrackers. Boring stuff. What about you?"

Frowning briefly Jasper suddenly grew anxious. The material of the suit felt a lot like leather. He looked at his brother. Had these people butchered their bovine kin?

Dakota understood his look, "we'll ask... They're pretty high-tech around here, hopefully it's fake. You know... more like leather than leather sort of thing." Dakota opened the canvas satchel that was looped across his shoulder and hung down to the opposite hip. "The same and I brought some smoke bombs and flashers too." He grinned at his brother, the excitement starting to wash away the bad taste of last night horrible escapade. "They can't hit what they can't see."

Generally, they abhorred violence but this wasn't real, it was just a game.

Jamie had been spending his time, awaiting the participants for this little excersise, familiarizing himself with the DR controls. While he was starting to get the hang of it, he hadn't gotten it down entirely.

In his attempts to 'monitor' the ladies locker room, he had accidentally jacked into the mens one, and been privy to the twins conversation.

It was worse than he thought. He had to do something to toughen up these two. The twins were geniune conciencious objectors, a trait he admired, and had shared for several years until reality had smacked him around enough. Pacifists said "I won't fight.", and those that did not share such beliefs inevitably crushed them. Reality sucked, and Jamie did not cherish revealing this truth to two such noble souls. But if he didn't, then they would never live long enough to pass on their beliefs to anyone.

He took a deep breath, paused, and then spoke into the microphone.

"Stop fuckin around Sue and Dakota, put on your geniune moo-cow uniforms, carry your asse's into the Danger Room, and wait until we are ready to kick this puppy."

Jamie was more than aware that the uniforms provided were made entirely of synthetic materials, and took no joy from lying to the twins, but he didn't see any other choice. Someone had to look out for their best interests.

The tall, lean, blond haired badass himself, self appointed, entered the mens locker room soon after. He let himself have a hugely dramatic yawn and gave a small, curt wave to the rest of the guys in here. Calvin scratched the already growing stubble on his chin and opened up his locker.

"Meh, who decided on basic black uniforms? Exciting." He said sarcasticly before slipping it on, attaching the belt last which display a rather X for a belt buckle. "Subtle." He mumbled, combing his hair in the mirror attached the inner door of his locker.

"Good thing you made me turn in early last night, Alex. I don't know if i'd be able to kick the Danger Room's ass today if I had a hang over. Probably, but why take chances?" The overconfident X-Man said with a hearty laugh.

Jean

Jean waited in front of the wide double doors leading into the Danger Room. When they'd started as children, it had been The Training Room and quite a bit smaller back then. However, as the knowledge of mutants grew, along with the threats, the Training Room had become the Danger Room and was now the length and width of at least two football stadiums; while inactive, your voice would echo off the smooth walls.

She spotted Warren along with two new students, the two she hadn't felt up to meeting in the chaos of yesterday. The young man seemed to radiate a jaded edge, not that unusual for teenagers, especially teenage mutants. The girl was all in white and though she tried to hide it, was looking at Warren as though he was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

"Warren," she grinned, "thanks for brings them down." She looked at the new students, "I'm Jean Grey," she said and held out her hand.

Eventually. the other students and X-Men trickled into the little gathering as Jean became acquinted with Tandy and Tyrone.

When they were essembled and reasonably quiet, Jean stood in front of the doors and addressed the group.

"This is the Danger Room, a place to hone your powers and abilities in a controlled environment. It is a conbination of halograms and robots. The weapons are programmed to stun and be painful but not lethal. However, the halogram envirnoments are real enough to hurt you if you fell down stair or were inside a collapsing building. The room and Jamie will monitor all of our vital signs as soon as we step through the doors and cancel of the program if there are any problems."

She waited while they digested that she had said.

"This exercise is meant to promote teamwork, it's called Invaders and Defenders." Jean gestured over her shoulders, through the doors. "In the halogram envirnoment is a structure, you won't know of what until you enter. One team will defend their base while the other team tries to capture it." She looked at the students one by one, "as this is your first time together, the choice is yours. Take a moment to decide among yourselves which position -Defender or Invader - your team is going to be."

Jean tilted her head toward Warren and gave a sign to Mimick and J13 to stand with her and let the students hash things out for themselves.

((Jean, if it's okay with you, please try not to decide my characters' reactions to others. I'm more than capable of doing that myself. Thanks.))

"Um... hi," Tandy says as she enters, but she's more concerned with the bizarre room around her rather than the people inside it. After taking in the sights of the room, or rather the sheer size and starkness of it, she allows herself to look at those who have assembled already. One would assume she'd be embarrassed of the fact that she's the only one not in black leather, but a smug, proud smile slowly spreads across her face instead.

"What are the teams?" Tyrone asks, not lifting the hood that obscures most of his face.

"I think we're supposed to decide that amongst ourselves." Alex said to Tyrone. He was relieved to see that Longshot had apparently not been included in this exercise. He did not want anything that might remind the damaged mutant that he was a serious danger. I guess we should choose team leaders and pick sides like we did in elementary school PE.'

Warren shrugged, "One grown up and one young person would be my suggestion." He glanced at Jean, "I nominate Jeannie for one of the teams."

*****

Above in the control room, Longshot entered and looked at Jamie. "They are going to fight each other?" he asked, turning to the window. "Very interesting."

Calvin checked himself out and dusted himself off before suggesting, "Well, in the absence of Scotty boy, I guess i'll lead one of the teams." With a smile he looked at everyone to see if someone disagreed.

"I think the point is to have a teacher lead one and a student lead the other." Warren smirked, "If you want a Summers to lead a team, I suggest you put Jr into play." He nodded at Alex.

"Me?" Alex frowned, "I don't know how to lead a team."

"That's what these sessions are for." Warren said.

The doors to the Danger Room hissed open and Illyana Nikolievna Rasputina, code-name Magik, stepped through them. She looked rather uncomfortable.

Illy had briefly met everyone in the room when she arrived 2 days ago, but had pretty much kept to her room since then. Jamies summons to the DR had ended her self imposed solitude.

She looked around at the assembled mutants. "Hi." Sha said simply. Being raised in a dimension populated by demons did not lend itself to learning social niceties.

"Can I play too?" She joked weakly.
