Elves- Most ancient of all races who live to be hundreds-of-thousands years old. They grow with time. A 267 year old elf could be the equivalent of a 4 year old human. A 5,798 year old elf could be the equivalent of an 18 year old human. It is extremely hard to tell how old a elf is. They are also extremely beautiful and just about flawless. Their features are almost always angular and clean. The have and unlimited amount of knowledge in magic and are skillful in using it. They tend to be skillful in using any sort of weapon. They have rules over Licadem for millions of years and have been settled for millions of years longer.
Shiftlings- Related to Elves. Shiftlings are usually born by chance but retain the same physical characteristics of an elf (long life, age slowly, great beauty, magical abilities, ect). The only real difference is at a very young age (for an elf) shiftlings start to grow little nubs around the shoulder blades which slowly grow into wings. Once the shiftling is able to fly, they either choose to leave or are forced to leave. Shiftlings tend to leave by choice because they are treated differently than others and often ignored or taunted. Shiftlings aren't very common but a few do roam the lands.
Halflings- Halflings are like a mistake, on purpose. Halflings are born from an elven parent and a human parent. They are usually a disgrace to the elves, and are looked down upon. Halfling reatin only some of the elven characteristics. They have longer lives than humans, but shorter lives than elves. They age at the same rate. They are beautiful in a humans eyes, but only pretty in an elves. Halflings arent as skilled in magic as elves, but still can weild it. Halfling also have natural combat abilities.
Humans- Your average human. Pretty simple, I don't think I really need to explain.
Werecats- Werecats are the rarest of races. They are similar to Werewolves, but not quiet as dramatic. They have two forms, one in a human-like form, and the other a feline form. They live extemely long live and can out live elves. The way or form in which they are born remains a mystery. They never age, even from birth. No details are know but it is guessed that werecats are born as a cat, form and when they transform already have a mutured human-like form. They can appear plus or minus 5 years old to plus or minus 70 (depending on personal preference). Were cats, not matter how young or old they appear hold more knowledge than it may seem. Were cats have magical abilities, and have premonitions every once in a while. They use telepathy more than words. Their eyes are usually outstanding colors. Their cat form can be from your average tom cat, to lions (That would be unlikely, but I suppose it is possible. Try not to make it the most powerful cat there is.) Need more info? PM Ev.
Centaurs- Halfhorse, half human. The torso of a human and body of a horse. Pretty simple. They have human life spans. They are common in Licadem. Usually have quirks where they flick their hair, as a horse would flick its mane.
Unicorns- Pretty simple beings. Look like horses with a beautiful horn adorned on there forehead. They have magical abilites. Their coat comes in white, black, or roan. They are also very common in Licadem
Vampires- Vampires are like humans except with some obvious differences. In Licadem there are two types of vampires. The good kind, and the bad kind. Ever since Nirvia's rule, some vampires had gone bad. Bad vampires hate light and are extremely pale skinned. When a lot of light hits their skin, it feels like they are burning. Bad vampires commonly hunt humans by obviously drinking their blood. Good vampires refrain from drinking humans blood, unless in dire need, or emergencies. They don't mind the light, and are usually darker skinned than bad vampires. Both types of vampires have elegant features and tend to be rather risque.
Dragons- Dragons have been around almost as long as the elves and werecats. They come in every color imaginable and can either breath fire, or ice. After hatching, the dragons growth rate is booming. They are usually full sized a year after they hatch. They're pretty independent and its rare for them to let anyone ride them. You'd have to be some one really special for a dragon to let you ride them. Dragons have odd magic abilities that no one can really understand.
Alterions- They resemble normal humans and some times are mistaken for elves of halflings. Alterions can learn to transform into a maximum of three other races, due to the ancient magic that resides in their veins. They have to see the actual creature in order to take on that form, and many choose to study the animal of their choice at great length in order to have more of an idea as to what to expect when they transform. This race had been alive just as long as the Dragons and Elves, though they are rarely seen or heard of. While taking the form of another creature, they may lose control over themselves. Transforming into a wolf, for example, may completely alter your goals and thoughts. Once you change into a wolf, your goals may change to running, gathering a pack, hunting, or finding a mate. Animal instincts are strong when you change over. Changing into another race gives them none of that race’s special abilities. Changing to an elf does not give them their potent magic, nor does changing into a dragon give them fire breath. Therefore they must rely only on the physical form when they transform. Alterions do have their share of magical abilities, but these powers are distinctly different from those of an elf or magician.
FAQ: Due to many recent inquires about more Alterion information, Ive decided to put up questions that were asked to better help future RPers.
-How long is their life span? Do they live as long as humans, elves, halflings, or something else entirely? Alterions live longer lives than human but less than elves. Humans life span ranges from 60-90 years, and elves life span can be far into the thousands. Alterions can live for a couple of centuries, no longer than 300. They count there years as humans do. If asked, an alterion would say "I am 176 years old", opposed to elves who would say "I am 18 human years" when they're actually 4,673 years old. At for aging, Alterions do not grow old after a certain age. That age depends on there maturity level. If an alterion is matured at sicteen year, then they would forever look that age untill they die. Same goes if they are matured at 25. Alterions usually mature within the ages of 15 to 30. But its really the RPers choice, if you decided you want you charry to age during the RP, thats fine, as long as they don't exceed 30 years in that time period. They have to mature at some point.
-It says they have their own kind of magic: what kind of magic is it and what does it allow them to do? What there magic consists of is the ability to change there physical being into three other species. This includes being able to communicate with the other species in what ever manner they do (i.e. if your alterion can become a horse, it can communicate and understand other horses through whinnies, how their ears are set, the stamping of the hoove, bucking, and etc). They also can use telepathy with other races.

Werewolves-Werewolves are seemingly normal humans during the day, but on full moons, they are forced to transform into their wolf self. They lose control over human instincts and attack anything in their path. They communicate through howls and calls and can use telepathy, but rarely do. When they transform, they have the wolf like traits, but do not look like wolves. They have longer limbs than a human & a muzzle, feet, and claws of a wolf (picture Lupin from Harry Potter). They have no other magic ability. After Nirvia became queen, it has been claimed that werewolves have been changing on their own free will and attacking innocent people.
Note: These Werewolves look more like the Harry Potter version so there will be no mix up with them and alterions.
Shilers- Shilers have not been around as long as the dragon, but are close behind. Shilers are small versions of dragons that can range from the size of a cat to the size of two horses. The larger shilers can be mistaken for a young dragon. Shilers can not bether fire or ice and have little magic ability. They are more likely to have a companion of some sort.
Dracoling. This is a very secretive race, taking their anonymity to an even higher extreme than either werecats or Alterions. They are a nearly non-existent race that never comes out of hiding. Up to this point, none of them has seen fit to change that fact.
As far as the history of the race, it might be thought that the race derived from early Alterions who made the mistake of taking a dragon form. It could be guessed that several of the resulting ‘artificial’ dragons were responsible for the resulting race. Another theory is that they are a cross between such Alterions and actual dragons. Their actual origins are unknown, as the Dracolings have not been bothered to remember their history.
Physically Dracolings have two forms. They have their own preferences when it comes to these forms and may choose to remain in either human form or dragon form for long periods of time as the mood takes them. Their dragon form is indistinguishable from true dragons: it comes in various sizes and colors, but, as with Alterions, these forms do not breathe fire or ice. Their human forms, however, are often very different. Depending on the Dracoling, they may have one or a combination of the following traits in human form: pointed ears, patches of scales (ranging from one small patch at the elbows to nearly covering their skin entirely), slit eye pupils (like their dragon form), and/or naturally curved and sharp nails and teethe.
Some of the older Dracolings may tend to slur their speech, making it sound more like the hissing of a snake, but for the most part Dracolings are rather skilled at picking up on languages and dialects. This is one of several abilities that define the race. Others include an unnatural skill at sketching, an innate sense of direction, and a vague drive or sense of purpose, almost like a Werecat’s. The difference here is that Dracolings may feel a pull, a sense of destiny, but nearly always choose to ignore it. Their curiosity is generally muted and they seldom leave their caves at all except to hunt. (race/creature credited to Renia)
