We are back again with another program that we are going to start up.
This one has to do with making our own line for genetics here at GLBS. What we are thinking of doing is choosing one(to start) line of bettas to work with here at GLBS. The main idea was everybody to get a pair, preferably not from the same breeder to create a huge gene pool. The breeders participating would breed the line for 2 generations, then a massive swap would occur. The breeders would start breeding other lines into their own, and this would progress until we had a great line going with everybodies original line in it. Occasionally a betta could be outcrossed(after posting a pic here to find consent with the other breeders). This could start whenever we get organized. i would like to participate,
but i have an interesting twist, maybe we could also work a line of Wild types? besides that i would have to pick Black Lace/Copper/Orchid --------------------   |

we can work as many lines as the breeders could handle, but we should start off with one i would suppose. we can keep wilds in mind.

my hoest opinions?
there are a few flaws with this idea: fistly everyone working on the same strain of bettas will get boring fast. secondly, after mearly two generations, you haven't really gotten to the positive factors of inbreeding. a good idea in general, but it's going to neet some work if you really want to make this a success. |

I'd like to, and I just have one thing to say. We should start a Double Crown Tail line. There have been those before, but I don't think a whole line. I think it is a good idea.

what do you mean by a double crowntail line? a double ray? those are pretty common.

Nononono. A Double Tailed Crown Tail. You know what a Double Tail is, right? That except with spieky fins. I gotta list:

ok, i got ya now. there are some hmct's they are called halfsuns. double tail spade tail would be a hard one to engineer. both lobes would have to have spade tails. there was on abid a few months ago a triple tail. poor thing just looked odd.

Maybe it's just me but a triple tail in my mind sort of seems like it would be like seeing a person with three eyes or boobs or something.
