I’ve been a part of Kristin’s fanclub staff for over five years now, and have been running the joint for almost three, and if someone asked me to describe Glitter in one word, I know exactly which one I’d choose: Generosity.
Generosity runs rampant in this fanclub. The generosity of Kristin and her team in giving their support and involvement (not to mention all of our fabulous auction items), the generosity of the fanclub staff in giving their time and talents and particular brand of crazy fun day-to-day and project-to-project, but most of all: the generosity of YOU, the fans. I can honestly say that I have never met a more generous group of people than the folks that make up Glitter. You constantly amaze me with your capacity to give, both to each other and to those in need. Every once in a while, we have the privilege of helping fans be generous to their fellow fans. This, ladies and gents, is one of those times. One generous fan has made an awesome donation to the fanclub, asking only that we allow a chance for one of you to get your grabby little paws on it. We, of course, agreed. So, here it is folks: The Love, Loss and What I Wore Special Offer to Benefit Lung Cancer (or as I like to call it: Lungapalooza ‘09). Who we are benefiting: All proceeds from the Special Offer will go to benefit the Lung Cancer Alliance (http://www.lungcanceralliance.org), an organization that is special to several of us here at Glitter who have had families touched by this disease. As usual, all donations should be made online via credit card at LCA’s website, or be sent in the form of a check or money order made out to Lung Cancer Alliance (please see their website for the mail-in form). See “HOW TO ENTER” instructions below for how to make sure we receive proof of your donation, so you can receive your prizes/be entered into the drawing. What is it: A drawing, of sorts. Our original plan was to raffle off the grand prize, and two runners up, but as it turns out raffles are known by another name: lotteries. And lotteries are considered gambling. And facilitating gambling without a license is illegal. The solution to this little problem turned out to be WAY BETTER for all of you, because the solution is this: everyone who sends money has to get something in return. Which means there are no losers here, folks. We’ve come up with a system of tiered prizes so that those of you who wish to contribute more can do so, while upping your chance of winning the grand prize at the same time. The system is as follows: For a donation of $10, you will receive an autographed photo of Kristin and one chance to win one of our top prizes. For a donation of $30, you will receive an autographed photo of Kristin, a Pushing Daisies magnet, and THREE chances to win one of our top prizes. And finally, for a donation of $50 or more, you will receive an autographed photo of Kristin, a Pushing Daisies magnet, a mystery item from the ChenoVault (signed playbill, additional signed photo, press tag, etc. – prizes will be chosen at random), and FIVE chances to win one of our top prizes. So what are these top prizes? Everyone who donates will be eligible to win one of our top three prizes. They are, as follows: Second Runner-Up (aka “The Oklahoma Pageant Special”): One (1) signed copy of Kristin’s autobiography, A Little Bit Wicked: Life, Love, and Faith in Stages; one signed copy of Kristin’s holiday album, A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas, one signed copy of Kristin’s inspirational album, As I Am, three (3) signed playbills (one Wicked, one The Apple Tree, one Stairway to Paradise), and one autographed photo of Kristin. First Runner-Up (aka “I saw the crown, and then I lost it”): 1 Rosetta print, 1 signed 8x10 of Kristin and Tinkerbell at the Tinkerbell premiere, one signed Rosetta baseball cap, and one signed pack of small Rosetta/Tink dolls, one signed copy of Tinkerbell on DVD. Grand Prize (aka “Holy Mother, this is awesome”): Two second-row seats to Love, Loss, and What I Wore on Friday, Dec 4th at 8pm, plus airfare for two within the United States (or $500 toward airfare if you are flying internationally), PLUS a meet-and-greet after the show with Kristin. (Note: You are responsible for your own hotel/lodging. We are paying airfare ONLY). How to enter: Donate online at LungCancerAlliance.org/donate/donate_online.htm, and email your confirmation to us at Janice.glitterstaff@gmail.com, along with your first and last name, your address, and your forum username. If you cannot send via email, or if you have to donate by check, send your confirmation/check to us at: Glitter: The KC Fanclub Attn: LLWIW Special Offer (or Lungapalooza ’09, whichever you prefer) PO Box 1151 Burbank, CA 91507-1151 We must receive your confirmation/check by November 5th. (This is only a MONTH from now, people, DO NOT WAIT to send in your donations). All winners will be announced on Sunday evening, November 8th. On behalf of all of us here at Glitter, I wish you good luck. -------------------- ![]() "Remember, no man is a failure who has friends." - Clarence (Banner and av by me.) |
