Hi there, I'm new to EV Nova and the first thing I thought after my first 22 hours of being glued in front of the computer was "Hey, this would make a neat skeleton for a Firefly/Serenity Plugin..." Well it seems that wasn't such an original idea heh.
I was wondering, since I want to play a female pilot, and I don't know if I want to play as Mal or any of the lovely crew, is there consideration paid to being Non-canonical pilots or characters of one's own making?
Can we make Serenity/Mal as a Captain Hector-like reocurring ship that asks for assistance or gives jobs?
What about instead of intimidating planets, change the hailing menu for planets to include some sort of Raid Town menu with a few different towns? So instead of changing status with the whole planet, we might be able to steal from one town and er... give accidentally to another? Or does the code not support anything like that?
Um... that's about it I reckon, my imagination runs away with persistent universe games, and Firefly seems to have some very unique and realistically possible elements for the Scifi TEEVEE genre.

Not at present. It would be possible to add this eventually, *if* a certain bug in the Windows port of Nova is fixed. At present, only the Mac version properly supports mulitple char resources.
At best, one might be able to change the storyline somewhat depending on whether the player selects "Male" or "Female" at the start. But even that much would be somewhat involved.

It might be possible, but it would be a project in its own right to convolute the engine in that manner. Not something I'm really qualified to attempt.
Yeah well you could have it follow the story but you don't have to be Mal, I mean...just have the character name chosen get used in the dialouge, sure you are bound to the story but it is more personalized. Also multiple longer than usual but not super long story strings (a la episodes) intersecting the main story arc would be good. Less complicated then the main story strings in ev nova but more complicated then "take the band to the gigs" and "open communications with the aurorans for united shipping". Perhaps along the lines in length and complexity to the storys like the wild geese that lead you to a main story string, in this case they could stand alone from the main arc but could still exist.
Ideally, I'd like to do lots of that.
The main thing standing in the way is the character revolving door-----"you" (Mal, for now) don't always have a consistent set of people as your crew. If missions refer to them, that restricts when they can take place somewhat.
