Title: Why 09/09/09 Is So Special
Marcie - September 8, 2009 10:58 PM (GMT)
Have special plans this 09/09/09?
Everyone from brides and grooms to movie studio execs are celebrating the upcoming calendrical anomaly in their own way.
In Florida, at least one county clerk's office is offering a one-day wedding special for $99.99. The rarity of this Sept. 9 hasn't been lost on the creators of the iPod, who have moved their traditional Tuesday release day to Wednesday to take advantage of the special date. Focus Features is releasing their new film "9," an animated tale about the apocalypse, on the 9th.
Not only does the date look good in marketing promotions, but it also represents the last set of repeating, single-digit dates that we'll see for almost a century (until January 1, 2101), or a millennium (mark your calendars for January 1, 3001), depending on how you want to count it.
Though technically there's nothing special about the symmetrical date, some concerned with the history and meaning of numbers ascribe powerful significance to 09/09/09.
For cultures in which the number nine is lucky, Sept. 9 is anticipated - while others might see the date as an ominous warning.

Well, if you turn it upside down, you get 60-60-60. Eliminate the zero cause it has no value and you get 6-6-6. Hmmmmmmm ...
It is also my birthday.

::8h8:: I didn't think of that. I had to get something at the store the other day for my sister and the total was $6.66, the cashier wouldn't even say it, she just pointed at it. I said I'm not writing a check for that amount so I added a penny

::frsnojo:: superstisions ???????
Yes I know all about the supposed significance of old hairy legs number BUT since 999 and 666 come about EVERY day it is NOT the number that is evil but the suggestions that it is can be a cause to stumble in your walk ....do you believe God has it all planned out or do you believe in superstisions ?????
*hm* come to think of it ..my mum has decided that she is going to use her new motorised scooter for the first time today and I am the one who has to walk with her :<what>: :<what>: :<what>: :<what>: you had all better be praying for me **bo**

I suppose then you would not have liked my license plate number when I lived in Germany in the mid-80's.
It was ZWX-0666. :<what>:
My landlord wound up with the 665 number since he registered his new car the same day I did. (They issued plates in strict sequence back then.) One of my acquaintances at the village gasthaus got the number 667 the following week because all of us were living in the same town.

Unless it has changed recently NO number plates here have the 666 number on them ...they are also rather carful ( or they were till they realised they could make big money from personalised plates ) with sequences of letters so you couldnt get things like sex in your number plate. At one time the first three letters told you where the car was first registered and then the year and then it had the sequence ...... now they dont care what they put on them as long as the first letter doesnt make it look as if the car is newer than it is ( each issue has a letter in the front of it ) :(

my ex brother in law had 666 in his social numbers, said he was going to
ask for a new number, but i don't know if he ever did.

Vanity plates are monitored carefully so that nothing offensive ends up on them, even backwards (as it would be forwards in your rear view mirror). I read an article on rejected plates in the local paper months ago.

Now the first two letters show where the car was registered (eg mine is HN for Hants), the next two numbers are the year (with either 5* or 0*, depending what part of the year it was registered in) and then just the usual 3 letters.

I just remebered this. It was not a good day for us at all. dad ended up in ICU. Then when we got home mama fell and we had to go right back to the hospital. She has 2 breaks in her wrist, 2 black eyes and a very bruised nose and a gast over her eye.
Thank God daddy's home but still having to run with mom to her appointments.
But all 'n all *gig*
