Yesterday Lad got the news that the private school where he teaches isn't doing too well. Today he has been told he will have to go on a 3 day week from September!

He is 62, so not far off retirement age but he planned to go on for at least another year as he won't get the state pension until 65. I retired last year so am only on a pension and we have had major major expenses with our daughter this year so a lot of my savings have gone.

We are going to have to look for another smaller house soon so it's all change. We are both a bit thrown from the suddenness of it and Lad can get anxious at uncertainty and change. I just don't know what to think except that it must be in God's plan and so must be OK.

It seems as though the economy is having a negative effect on just about everyone. Even those who have not been directly impacted today have no real security. I expect that things are going to get much worse before they improve.

I do like your attitude, that it must be the Lord's plan so it will be ok. Worrying doesn't help. I think we all try not to worry when things like this happen, but it is easier said than done. I do believe if you keep your trust in God, he will take care of you. Matthew 6:31-34

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

It was good to be reminded of these scriptures, thanks Butero! Thanks too everyone for all your prayers. Lad didn't sleep last night and he is my main worry. Several years ago when he was made redundant he had a breakdown leading to clinical depression and although he has been much better for a while he still suffers with anxiety from time to time and this is just the sort of situation that triggers it. I don't want him going down that path again! :(
