I have just come across an programme where 5 Amish teenagers have come to the Uk to spend some time with a teen band .... It is wonderful to see them share their faith so strongly and watching them watch drunk and stupid British teenagers is so not impressive ::02::

I have been enjoying this too! What a contrast with their simple and sincere faith and our British youth way of life!! You can see the difference just in their faces! <<tmbup>>

Couple of quick questions:

1. Is this on British TV?

Because I've never heard of it . . . not that I watch all that much any more, but that might be why I haven't heard of it.

2. How did they manage to convince 5 Amish teens to do this?

Missions work?

Yes it is on Uk tv... dont know how they did it asI missed the start of the programme ...I am hoping to see the next one where they go to stay with Lord and Lady something or other...

There are three boys and two girls in the group, one of the girls lived with a very strict sect and when her parents left they were shunned so I dont know if that has anything to do with it **er** The other girl and the boys are less forthcoming so I wil try to find out <<tmbup>>

In the first episode there was something about the Amish encouraging their youngsters to go out and experience something of the world before they finally decide to settle down and become members.

It does rather seem like being thrown in the deepest deep end though!

The second in the series of visits was shown last night...... The girls still appear to be well grounded but the boys are going more than a bot overboard with the drink... they appear to think that it is ok to drink cider as it is just apple juice but they are getting a real " buzz " from being drunk ::02::

In this episode they went to school for a day and it was amazing to find out they dont even know anything about their own countrys laws :( They pay taxes but they dont vote and they dont know anything about the government ( even who is president ) they just pray for " them " <:bg:>

Next week is the worse for them I think.. it is the last visit and they stay with some " surfers " and again it just shows the worse of British teenagers.

The trailers of when they go home, however appear to show that some ( almost all ) of them find the lives they are returning to less satisfying than they used to think ::02::
