Right, well I had a letter from my car insurance company today about the changes I "had requested to my policy" for which they are going to charge me an extra £28.35 plus an extra £20.00 administration charge!! As I haven't requested any changes I rang up and asked what it was all about. I was told it was "undisclosed information" about a claim made a couple of yeas ago which had been e-mailed to them from another insurance company. I said I had never made ANY claims!
Further questioning revealed that it was Lad's claims on HIS insurance for HIS car when it was stolen. He obviously lost his no claims on his OWN insurance but why on earth should that impace on mine! They said it's because he's a named driver on mine but it looks like the insurance companies have got us twice over. I cannot see why claiming for HIS car being stolen should have any relevance at all to my policy - it doesn't make it more likely that MY car should be stolen just because he's a named driver. )(cd() )(cd() )(cd() )(cd() |

talk to the insurance ombudsman and change your insurance company fast ....it is often cheaper to not name drivers as if he is fully comp on his insurance he can drive your 3rd party anyway ::hgg5::

OK just tried to take Lad off the policy and change insurance company. To take Lad off incurs another administration charge of £20 so I don't save there but it would take £30 off the policy. However, to cancel before the expiry date would incur a charge and guess how much? Yes, £30!! So they have got me every way as I would lose the same amount taking him off and changing! So I am leaving it as it is but will definitely change at the end of the year. I also enquired if the fact that my annual mileage was less would change anything. It would save £5 but again, admin cost of £20!! We have now been penalised on TWO policies all because of Lad's claim which wasn't his fault to start with! )(cd() )(cd() )(cd() )(cd() |

What did the insurance ombudsman have to say? Reason dictates that this is wrong. Surely you don't have to accept this idiocy? |
