Title: Enter the new Slytherins
Kylern - August 14, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
Kyle made his way into the dungeons to where the common room was for his new house. He had no real love for living in a place that seemed to be used for torture in the past dark history. In his mind he could see people chained which was probably just his imagination running wild. But he did go down into the dank area and after making his way through the picture guarding the tunnel into it found a different setting. It was actually quite comfortable here and he sat down in a nearby chair and let his feet hang over the arm rest a little and look at the ceiling. A small furry creature climbed out of a side bad and sat down on his chest looking at him a little with its black beady eyes.
"This is our new home little buddy. Just don't get in trouble..." He scratched the ferrets head a little as it struggled in his grasp and laid down on its belly. Kyle just pet his pet softly with a smile on his face.

The Slytherin common room was indeed very nice, though a little damp. Holli walked through the doors of the girls dorms where she had just checked out where she was sleeping, and if all her stuff was still there. There were a few things in her trunk that wasn't really allowed in the school, other than her father's joke shop items. She looked around for anyone familiar and spotted Kyle.
Holli tiptoed across the room and leaned over the back of his chair, looking down at him. "Hey there Kyle." She spotted the ferret on his chest and smiled, "and who's this little guy?" Bending over she stroked the little animals head.
Kylern - August 14, 2007 01:00 AM (GMT)
Kyle looked up and saw the girl from the feast and smiled. He was glad she wasn't crying anymore because it wasn't good for her. The ferret felt the unfamilar hand touch him and hopped down just to run off into the vermin infested dungeons. He was going to have lots of fun here.
"That was my little buddy. He usually sleeps in my bag but I guess there are more important things out there then here with me." he laughed a little as he continued to lay there looking up. He didn't mind this place anymore because it was beginning to feel like home. He had lived in his grandparents basement for the summer before coming here.
"So do you feel a little more comfortable being sorted into the evil Slytherin House?" He asked because she had been upset earlier about it.
Ciena - August 14, 2007 01:28 AM (GMT)
Holli nodded as the ferret scampered away from her. She didn't think that ferrets were allowed in the castle but she didn't care. Looking back down, she noticed for the first time the unusual colour of his hair. Of course, she had been a bit preoccupied with crying and whatnot.
"Yeah it's all right. I mean, I guess I belong here and everything, I can make the most of it. And not everyone around here is that bad." Holli went around the chair and sat on a sofa next to it, reclining a bit.
Kylern - August 14, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
Kyle noticed her staring at him a little like he had something on his face. When he tried to see what it was he realized that it was his hair. This made him chuckle lightly and shifted his position as Holli sat down. He was now sitting up too cross legged in the chair facing her.
"Neah this place isn't too bad. Plus from what I've seen we could easily control this house. I mean both of us are smart and clever and could probably become... I think they called them Perfects?" He said scratching his head a little. He knew that it didn't make him feel smart but he wasn't from around here so he had no idea what some things are.
Firewing - August 14, 2007 01:56 AM (GMT)
Luke was sitting in the corner, relatively set away from everyone. It had become his corner in some ways, as whenever he was in the Common Room he seemed banished into the corner where he was free of the glares and looks of the other people in his House.
The corner had one small lamp by a chair, the perfect set off reading area. And for someone who loved to read in quiet and peace it was not a bad place to be banished. Luke happened to enjoy.
And so he was there when the two first years entered the Common Room, but he didn't bring attention to the fact that he was sitting there. He just continued to read a book he had bought when going to get school supplies earlier.
He sighed, listening to their conversation with only a vague interest in what they were actually saying.
Kyle, the boy on the train who Luke hadn't taken much of a liking to, was in Slytherin now. He was showing the girl, who hadn't been happy originally about her Sorting, his ferret. The same ferret that had climbed up his leg on the train.
They were talking also about being sorted.
Luke continued to read, glad to not be noticed for the moment.
Ciena - August 14, 2007 02:06 AM (GMT)
"Yeah. Prefects," she nodded a bit. Actually her goal for Hogwarts was to become a Head Girl so she needed to become a prefect. A couple of other First years sat down near them and one put there wand on the table, instincts kicked in her and she pretended to yawn and accidentlyonpurpose made her classmates wand fall. She sat up and apoligized, ducking down and switching the wand with a joke wand before getting back up and placing it on the table.
The girl swiped her wand back, which immediatly turned into rubber chicken and bit her on the nose. She jumped and ran screaming out of the room, followed quickly by her friend, who Holli threw the girls wand to.
Holli turned back around to Kyle with a smirk on her face and went on like nothing happened, "I think that's a great idea." She noticed that someone was staring at them from them in the corner and stared right back. This person was obviously much older than them, so why was he so interested in them?
Kylern - August 14, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
Kyle busted into laugher as the joke Holli played on the girl. His pale face turned red as he began to breath in and tried to normalize his breathing again. He hadn't had so much fun since meeting this girl and it felt like a good idea to have come here. Once that little few second moment was done he looked at her with a grin.
"Where did you learn all this? You have a wicked sense of humor." He said with a smile as he placed his book bag beside his chair and looked around. In the corner he noticed a figure that was unfortunately familiar. There was an emphasis on unfortunately because the guy had threatened him on the train. But since they were the same house he decided to make peace and rebuild bridges. "Holli give me a sec, I'm going to say hi to someone." With that he hopped off the chair, straightened his clothes to look presentable and approached the Malfoy guy.
"Luke... I'm sorry about earlier... I didn't mean to hurt your cousins feelings and that little thing after words is hard to explain but I am sorry. So how about we start over cause I really made bad first impression." He said this as he put out his hand with a friendly smile. He wanted to make up and hoped that this guy would accept his offer of peace. Besides he was interested in seeing what he could learn from someone much older than him.
Firewing - August 15, 2007 09:29 PM (GMT)
Luke looked up at the person who had come over ad started to talk to him. It was the boy from the train, from the compartment. The boy who had so loosely and bluntly pointed out Andy's being a werewolf. It was quite odd to see him in Slytherin, and he wondered what the Hat might have seen to put this boy in Slytherin.
And he was apologizing. Luke was willing to take it for the moment.
Luke gave a slight nod of his head, and gave a ghost of a smile.
"I accept your apology, though I suggest you apologize to Andy as well, she's the one you hurt," Luke said in response.
"And I suppose first impressions can be changed," he added.
Luke watched the boy, wondering if there was any intent behind this seeking of friendship and peace besides that.
He shook the boy's hand briefly.
Ciena - August 15, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
Holli watched the two boys talk with each other and she started to get annoyed. Something that was on her lips but she couldn't think what it was. It had something to do with that older guy. Suddenly it dawned on her. 'It's a Malfoy. What does Kyle have anything to do with a Malfoy?" she thought.
Casually she got up and crossed the room where they were. When she was about a step away from him she leaned closer and whispered, maybe a little to loudy, "what are you doing talking to a Malfoy? There the lowest scum of the wizarding world." She eyed Luke a bit again wiith contempt.
Kylern - August 15, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
"Sorry Luke but I can't do that... There is no way I'm going near her again. If you saw and felt what I did you wouldn't blame me." He said after the hand shake was done. "I guess I'll see you arou..."
Suddenly Holli came up behind him ranting about a Malfoy and Luke and something about scum. His eyes were blank and he was easy to tell he had no idea what she was talking about. He looked at her who seemed to be kind of upset, then he looked at Luke who he could guess probably felt really uncomfortable right now. Or perhaps he was use to it... if he wasn't mistaken a comment had been made on the train that because he was a Malfoy he was hated or something. But what was important about a Malfoy?
"You know Holli that its not nice to pass judgment on someone you don't know just because of their family. If I'm not mistaken you were upset about being in Slytherin because of your family and things you heard about it." He said trying to defuse the situation because he felt sandwiched right now.
Firewing - August 16, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
"Alright. Suit yourself," Luke responded to Kyle.
Luke looked over at the girl who had walked up, eyes narrowing into somewhat of a glare at her comment about him. It was only the first night in Slytherin and she was already shooting her mouth off about someone she didn't even know. And she was once again classifying him as the typical Malfoy.
"Some people could say the same about your family, as you are a Weasley, aren't you?" Luke returned bitterly.
"But I am not the kind of person to make snide remarks about bloodline, and I'd really you just stay clear of me if all you can do is find something to say about me based on who my family is. Last I checked I'm not in very good standing with them. So next time, I'd think about what I'd say before shooting my mouth off," he said, his tones very bitter.
"And Kyle, I'd be glad to see you around, as long as you keep less willing friends away. I'd rather not deal with them," Luke said to Kyle, before standing up, shutting his book and starting towards the stairwell to the boy's dorms.
((My 100th post! *parties* ))
Ciena - August 16, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
Holli's eyes were ablaze with anger. It was common knowledge that Weasleys were blood-traitors, but no one really talked about. Obviously this man was just as bad as the other Malfoys, at least in her eyes. She followed him with her eyes and called, "your whole family has been into the dark arts for centuries, that doesn't just suddenly change."
Holli turned around grumply to Kyle and folded her arms. "You know those Death Eaters I told you about, that thought torturing muggles was fun? Well his father and grandfather were ones. Just thought you should know." She stalked back to her seat and, started scheming. She was going to paly a terrible trick on the dirty Malfoy, she just didn't know what.
Firewing - August 16, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
Luke turned back to look at her, his own eyes clouded with emotion, but just what couldn't be quite figured out. He knew he'd stepped a bit into the territory of talk his father had pulled off at Hogwarts, not the best thing to do when trying to prove you weren't like your parents or grandparents. She probably felt he was just as bad as they were, but at the moment she had assumed.
"My whole family is not me. You shouldn't ever assume just by blood line and name that someone is just like their family. Do you even know anything about me? I doubt it. Kyle should be able to judge on his own and he sure seems to know me a lot better than anyone at the moment," he said.
"My family may have been Death Eaters, but that doesn't make me one. It doesn't make me hate Muggles or Muggle-borns. You should learn that not everyone follows their family's views," he said.
Luke would have left but he wanted to set this straight. Feeling he'd made ground with someone, he didn't want Kyle to be turned against him as quickly as they had tried to start out on a better foot.
Kylern - August 16, 2007 05:47 PM (GMT)
Kyle felt tugged and he dropped his eyes as Luke walked away. He gave a sigh and returned to his seat before feeling like he had just caused more trouble that he had wanted. And as he sat down he stared at the ceiling slightly annoyed before looking back at Holli.
"You know that doesn't excuse the way you talked to him. He's ashamed of his family from what I can tell and didn't need you jumping his back about it. You can't hold someone responsible for what their family does... Its like saying that the citizens of a nation are responsible for what their government does. Not everyone can be lumped together so easily." He said this in a soft but shaking voice. He was irritated with how that had gone because he had been wanting to patch things up. His eyes closed a little as his head hang off the edge of the chair arm rest. His head swarm slightly like a hive of angry bees and it took all his emotional control to not take out his wand and set fire to one of the other kids in the common room.
Ciena - August 16, 2007 08:32 PM (GMT)
Holli looked at Kyle sympathetically. He seemed to be angry, but he really shouldn't, how could she just suddenly trust someone when she knew that his entire background was in the Dark Arts? A small smile formed on her lips and she said, "you're the exact same with werewolves. Maybe you should see past their man-eating exterior and see the true person inside. I know one and he is very nice." She laughed a bit.
"Anyway tell me about yourself. You have an American accent so your obviously not from around here."
Kylern - August 16, 2007 08:45 PM (GMT)
"No its not werewolves I have a problem with... Just one." He said simply with his head hanging off the side again. He had calmed down a bit and now was staring lazily at the girl that he had probably spent the most time with so far since showing up here. Then she asked him a question he had kind of been waiting on.
"I'm not... Where I'm from there isn't a Wizarding world or whatever you guys call it. We have individual families were magic is kept as a family secret and only there. My father was a muggle as you guys call them and my mom was a Squib. My grandma and great-grandma were powerful witches that specialized in shaman magic and divination. When I first started having vision I stayed with my grandma until we were visited by some representation of this school. So here I am." He said that as short and sweet as possible.
"Basically I have the sight and when we were on the train here I saw a vision that Andy was going to kill me in werewolf form. Thats why I fear her... And thats why I have to become stronger... I'm not ready to be killed by a wolf." He muttered that last part as he shifted his stare towards a painting that was listening in on them. He didn't like being watched and his eyes flashed as he drew his wand and pointed it at the picture. "Incendio..." The painting light up in flames as its occupant took off. Only that painting burned up leaving the wall bare in that spot.
Ciena - August 16, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
As Kyle talked she couldn't help but think that this was one very strange kid. Well stranger than most, she had never met anyone with the Sight before. She was suddenly excited by this, he could tell her if they were going to get into trouble..! But as he went on she became quizzical. An eyebrow quirked when he said Andy's name.
"Are you talking about Andromeda Lupin?" Holli had known her all her life since both their parents were part of the Order, and had strong ties to their family. Her eyes coasted to where the painting had once hung before Kyle burned it magically. She had known Andy all her life, and yet she was only learning about this now. Her parents probably wouldn't have wanted anyone to know but still...
Kylern - August 16, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
"Yeah I am... She was the one that killed those two students the other night. I'm sure the teachers are keeping hush about it but I'm worried. My visions are always short term and nothing else has happened yet so next cycle I'm going to be attacked." He continued on in an emotionless drone. He was scared but he wasn't really showing it, instead he just seemed kind of dazed.
"And she will kill me... I can't stop that from happening but I also can't run either. I have to face my fears and be ready for that moment. I'm not going to hurt her, but I can't let her hurt me either." He said this twisting in his seat and shifting positions until he was sitting upright crosslegged. His elbows were on his knees and his chin in his hands.
"Tell me... Everyone I've met so far seem related somehow or another. How is that and what is with the families? You were angry at Luke for his family but I can't see the reason for all the mistrust. Is bloodline really that important?" He asked his own question as his hair fell into his eyes but he didn't brush it away. Instead he just sat there looking almost like he was dead.
Ciena - August 16, 2007 09:56 PM (GMT)
"Blood in the wizarding world is very, very important. More so to some than others. A lot of really dark battles have started because of it, the most recent one happening only about 20 years ago with Voldermort. Some people think that Pure-bloods, or the people that were born in a long line of wizarding families, should be the Masters of the world. Then there are Half-bloods, where one of the families is pure-blood and the other is not. Then there are Muggle-born's, or," she whispered this part to him so only he could here her, "Mudbloods, but don't ever say that to anyone, it's very, very rude and you're most likely to start a fight." She went on normally now. "Most of the pureblood families have married into each other because there so little of us left, so a lot of people are related somehow."
Holli stopped for a little to catch her breath and also got up, to sit crosslegged.
"And the Malfoy's well, let's just say that his grandfather has tried to kill my aunts and uncles to many times to trust them. He put a book in my aunt Ginny's stuff and it nearly sucked her soul out. And well he's basically tried to kill my other aunts and uncles because they're friends with Harry Potter."
She sighed. It was very hard to explain it all without missing anything. She probably had but her throat was starting to hurt a little.
Kylern - August 16, 2007 10:08 PM (GMT)
"Sounds really complicated... Glad I wasn't raised in this world. My family blended into the regular world and practiced craft in order to not let it die." He drew his wand and spun its twisted wood in his hands. "This was created by my great-great-grandma and it has been passed down from gifted to gifted child. I'm the first male to show the ability to use magic in several generations which is why name and blood doesn't matter to me. My bloodline is so diluted I'm sure we would have had a hell of a time in your world." He then laughed a little because to him it was a bit of a joke. He didn't even mind the eyes on him either because he returned his wand to its holster like a revolver from the old west.
He looked up at Holli and gave a smile. "I'm sure we were put in this house for a reason since we both aren't suppose to belong here." He offered watching the snake embroiled banner hanging above them. He had never thought of himself as a snake but if it was meant to be then something had to place him here.
Ciena - August 16, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
Holli nodded, and took out her own wand which Mr. Olivander had gotten from her. There was nothing very special about it except for the fact that the wood had the same name as her's. Holly. All that talk made her think of her history, and Voldermort, and how she would never really know that would be like living in fear all the time. When he smiled at her, she smiled back.
They were probably going to be very good friends. They had a good thing going, she would give him imformation and he would give her his company. Kyle probably would never know how much she wanted it. Any company for that matter.
"Well anyways, let's get outa here. I really want to try that Peruvian Darkness powder on someone. Maybe in one of the halls."
Kylern - August 17, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
Kyle laughed a little as Holli started again with the jokes even this late at night. He began to drag himself up and then sat back down dog tired. He gave a sigh and then a yawn at the same time which was really odd to hear.
"Sorry Holli I will have to sit this one out... Could you go on without me? I'll join you on the next adventure, I did keep some of those fireworks from that joke shop." He said with a smile to her. He wanted to come but he felt sluggish and tired.
Ciena - August 17, 2007 03:01 AM (GMT)
"Eh, ah well. I guess I can use it some other time. Maybe scare some Ravenclaw from going into the Library, if that's possible. They'd probably have seizure if someone took them away from their precious books." Holli had been in the middle of standing up and sat back down. She yawned also, and looked at the fire on the other side of the room, resting her head in her palm. She noticed that she was tired also and her eyes drooped a bit.
Kylern - August 17, 2007 03:10 AM (GMT)
Kyle gave his own yawn an pulled his wand out as Holli began to fall asleep. He gave a sigh and summoned a blanket towards him and then placed it around Holli as she laid there. He noticed how tired she looked and didn't know if she would get up before too long but he wouldn't let her freeze. Once that was done he grabbed his bag and and left to go to bed in the boy's dormitory.
Once up there he laid down and almost instantly began to fall asleep. He was tired after all and tomorrow was a big day. It was their first day of school and he set his watch wake him up early. He didn't want to be lost while looking for his classes...
