Bill Gates has announced that the third installment of the smash-hit FPS Halo, is scheduled for a Spring 2006 release, supposedly on the same day as the PlayStation 3.
I quote Mr. $$$ directly:
| QUOTE | | It's perfect, Sony releases it [the PlayStation 3] and they walk right into Halo 3. It couldn't be better. |
Now lets take a look at the logic here. A game costs about $50 roughly. A console costs about $500 roughly. Halo 3 is an XBox exclusive title, and Mr. Gates believes that it will combat another console...Now heres the hole in his genius.
There are people that play with only PlayStation. There are people that only play with XBox. And there are people that play with both. If you are going to get a PS3, will the release of Halo 3, completely stop you from buying a PS3? It might cut you $50 short from getting it that week, but the next week you'd be at the store getting a PS3 correct? That's my logic here...even if the two collide on the same day, it's just delayed sales, it doesn't mean that sales for one will decline completely, since they gauge sales on a quarterly report....
Oh, and just to add on some things, a lot of the more intelligent XBox players even agree with the fact that what Gates is bragging about is stupid.
And here's the icing on the cake. Bungie has said that Gates' claims are not going to be made reality, Halo 3 will not be out by the time that the PS3 is released. Food for thought there.
