This is no adware son... This is a utility that is installed onto your computer in a Symantec Antivirus Application. This however, is 100% spyware and is illegal. I advise you to use Panda AntiVirus Titanium or Mcaffe AntiVirus. The purpose of this application is to protect CD, DVD, and download infringement and prevents the use of reverse engineering software.

To remove:
QUOTE
Go to windows directory/system32 and delete: vxblock.dll then go to regedit by cliking start execute and then regedit
serch "xl"

The registry file this app is called is xl.exe take note however, that .xls are Excel Spreadsheet files, try not to delete them accidentally. :ph43r:

well... mainly becuase it is created by americans who take infringement too seriously. And....becuase they can. Expect this to happen in the future more often as our tech world grows and consumes us.

It infuriates me to see developers whom ppl trust and treat them like dirt...yes mike, it is innevitable in the future that soon we won't even noe what we have in our software because it is so advanced.

welcome, and no, not every version of Symantec has this "utility", but which ones do is a mystery, try using the above method ot see if you have one, if not then you are safe. Xtremlok can not be gotten through virus defintion updates.
