The Integral Flash Drive for 1 GB storage does not work on the Netgem USB port directly. It did work when I used the Poundland stores USB hub. So I checked 957 for Multimedia then sda1. I then got some screen capture images from the Freeview TV channels. These were saved so I then checked how to install the Windows driver for my Windows 98 Second Edition operating system.

Select Splash drive. The 5 MB file then led to the installation but without the Splash drive connected to the USB port or USB hub. The instructions told me to restart the PC then insert the Splash drive as usual. So the extra drive was found on My Computer with the saved images plus the installed files for Secret Zip encryption and file compression options. I copied these into a new folder just in case.

Netgem users can't rely on saving screen captures if too many files are already saved. Sometimes you may need to delete previous ones to get new ones saved properly with the PiP button then Green, Save to Storage... please wait then see file list appear then press OK to paste the saved image onto the USB device.

If possible, upload images to your website using the FTP option eg username, password to the ftp service for your website. Select a file then Green for Options to Copy, back out of viewing your files then upload to your website which is listed as if it were another drive.

I use http://www.supanet.com at the weekends for cheaper dialup rates or http://www.freeola.com which has unlimited file storage/webspace. Upload to the htdocs directory to access later using the Internet connection. Otherwise try a free webhost that doesn't charge for dialup access to the files and folders using FTP. I sometimes use the 1 MB free webspace here:

It allows direct image access eg for forums or emails.

http://urlcut.com/pdlogin is a shortcut where you login and upload using the File Manager set-up. Helpful for those who already have an ISP with a monthly access charge.

NETGEM MAILBOX AND POP EMAIL ACCESS INFO:

I wanted the http://www.flickr.com service to work with my Netgem Mailbox which lets me attach one email image for flickr.com to host for me.

I set up the Netgem Mailbox with these settings: Enter yahoo.co.uk email address and user name and password plus

pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk

smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

POP checks the Inbox only not the Bulk folder so don't set up a Bulk folder in the Yahoo account nb log in then Options, Mail Preferences... Send emails to Inbox only. If Yahoo Delivers! Marketing Emails isn't enabled then neither is the free POP service. You can update previous yahoo.co.uk accounts to receive Yahoo Delivers! Marketing emails to get POP to work.

I have tested other USB drives eg 1 GB Maxell plus the 64 MB freebie from play.com and the software driver didn't show any files on my PC's Window Explorer. Same problem with the Integral Courier 2 GB USB drive.

Windows 98 Second Edition presumably not being USB friendly.

I had to use the Netgem I-Player and one of those USB hubs from Poundland stores to move files from these dodgy USB pen drives to other more reliable and PC friendly pen drives. The play.com site is refunding me the cost plus the recorded delivery charges, too.
