As once suggested by kevind23, I've thought about making separate editions of IRC# for different protocols. At first I thought it may do well as a Battle.net client, so scripters could write bots for Battle.net easily with .NET. kevind23 suggested that I make it support other protocols as well, such as IM services, like MSN, Yahoo!, or AIM. It would open the door to bots on IM such as artificial intelligence bots who make conversations, such as SmaterChild. Once I get IRC# to be a stable program, I'm considering doing this for one or two other protocols. It would be a lot of work though, so I want to know how others feel about it first.

Basically, for those who might use IRC# for scripting and bots, who would find scripting for an IM service useful? Which ones? Maybe it's not a good idea, so please leave your feedback.

Okay, this thread is for discussion of the feature I mentioned. I'm trying to keep these forums to be very structured; each thread concerns one topic in the forums such as bugs, suggestions, etc. I'm removing the above posts; If you wish to continue the Mono/Linux discussion, please do so in the Discussion > General forum.

Before going for IM protocols, port it to Linux. >_>;

I wouldn't rely on 3rd party projects, Kevin.

Well the program is made with the .net framework. If you take it away, the entire application would have to be completely recoded to run without it.
