So... that nice new laptop I got a couple weeks ago stopped recognizing the DVD drive after I uninstalled a bunch of useless programs; when I went to exchange it for a new one they wanted $100 more because it was no longer on sale (despite the two weeks I spent trying to deal with defective software or hardware). Thus, that computer has been returned (and good riddance, in a way, since the glitchy PoS that is Vista refused to work with half of the software I own/need - shiny really doesn't replace functionality).
HOWEVER! My old laptop (and my brother's, leading me to suspect that damn Sony infected them both with a mechanical bug, as unlikely as that is) is now having issues recognizing any CD or DVD that isn't the Toshiba restoration DVD. Therefore... don't expect to see anything of me for at least a few more days while I try to get my old laptop to work properly, since I don't think I'm getting a new one with only a week to go to find all of the issues with it.
