The 'Lympy Low Down
What Have You Gotten Yourself Into?

Olympus - home to gods, mortals, and everything in between. Somewhere, an unworn path awaits your feet to tread it and withstand the different obstacles scattered throughout Ancient Greek life. Based on the fantastical tales we were told as young children, or lectured about in those history classes we paid little attention to, this mythological board is designed to give you the full experience of Zeus' reign.

Your Face Among the Stars
You do not have to use a celebrity as the face of your character, but, if you decide to do so, you must claim the actor so that no one else will use yours later on.

Throne Room
Twelve golden thrones adorn the Throne Room, floored with a rainbow and lit eternally by glorious sunlight. Zeus, Hera, Ares, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Hermes, Demeter, Poseidon, Athena, Apollo and Artemis, and Dionysus occupy the twelve seats, while Hestia sits beside the hearth in the center, having given up her throne for Dionysus to use.

Divine Stables
Both Helios and Selene have chariots made of their element, sun and moon. While Selene departs from Olympus' stables at the start of her night, Helios drives to Olympus' stables at the end of his day. Complete with marble-laden aisles and spacious stalls lining miles of endless barn, pegasus' filling most, and a few pastures scraping the edge of the Garden, the stables reach a peak of surrealism when compared to that of a mortal's.

Courtyard
Passing beneath the twisted rock arch, elaborate landscaping creates a majestic, relaxed atmosphere of which the Immortals enjoy. Though most believe the tree bearing golden apples dwells within the garden beneath the mountain atop which Atlas holds the world's sky, it was replanted in Olympus' Courtyard. The deep navy bottom of the vast lake ripples with contact from the cascading waterfall, which appears to fall from nowhere. Flowers are as regal as their creators; flowers consisting of sunlight, of dew, of raw colors, and even of moonbeams. Beams of starlight web the sky overhead, patches of midnight and daylight mottled in the revealed spaces between the net.

Corridors
Isolated rooms spread across Mount Olympus, each occupying a different immortal, sometime two if they are wed. Personal rooms for different uses became too wasteful of space, so they merely dedicated corridors for each other. Aphrodite with her beauty room, and Athena with her archery range, and so forth. To get your own corridor, message staff with the name of your immortal and wait for them to comply.

The Basin
An average tub of water would be much too ordinary for the Immortals to bathe in. The liquid is made up of sweet dew, each droplet chosen with care and harvested precisely at dawn. Upon the surface, a hazy blanket of clouds dyed metallic gold and striking silver skirt around like a graceful dance, dipping into the fluid and pulling out in breathtaking designs. The vapors constantly shift in their movements till it appears alive and of conscious thought.
Befitting of a god, aye?

Agora
From weapons to ripe fruit, to cloth and anything else you can think of, the Marketplace is home to all your needs. The marketplace also thrives with beggers and thieves, so you might want to watch your back. It's quite easy to cut a purse when you're surrounded by an ocean of moving people making contact as they brush by on their hastened way. Note that all the trades that go down will be typed up and saved, for only staff to see, so that we have records to reference and check.

The Stables
The worn barn holding the locals' horses and chariots is a hotspot for natives to visit. From racers to simple plow horses, the variety is bloated. The owner, a blustery man with a tendancy to be red-faced and fuming, is hardly seen, as he prefers the company of more sophisticated noblemen, so it has become publically thought of as owned by the village. To get your own stall for your horse, message a staff member the name of your character and the name of the horse, and we'll make you a sub-board to stand as the stall.

The Stadium
This is where the Chariot racing takes place! Can't let the gods have all the fun, right? They say that Chariot Racing is the sport of Kings. You can make bets, or particapate in the actual racing that takes place. Be sure to train your horses for the upcoming events. The dates of the races are decided on by the staff members, and, if you cannot attend the race, you will be disqualified. Staff chooses the winners. A race lasts five posts per an attender, and, on the last post, staff will give the results out and the roleplayers will finish up their last posts as the staff listed. Staff members may post accidents at random, or you may add your own mini-disaster to spice things up. Do you want to take the risk?

Lodging
A large majority of Athens consists of homes belonging to the locals, all of which can be found here. To get your own, simply send your character's name to a staff member and wait for them to make a sub-board for your character's home.

The Court
All citizens over thirty years of age serve on the jury. Each juror is given two bronze tokens, and one, which is solid, stands for innocent, and the other, with a hole, means guilty.
To apply to be a judge, audition in the Updates board when it is available.

The Arena
Gladiators make fascinating show for the locals, and heroes against one another is downright breathtaking. When challenged, or making a challenge, or settling a difference, or for any reason that a fight might come to be, heroes, mortals, and even gladiators come to this open-air arena to battle it out, whether simple hand-to-hand, sword, or any other elaborate theme. To the death or not, well...
That's entirely up to you.

The Theatre
Plays performed as part of religious festivels to please the gods can last for several days, and prizes are given to those who give the most entertaining performance. Actors wear painted masks in the stead of makeup, and a crane is used so that actors may appear to fly like their gods. The Theatre is outside, with the audience in chairs seated like a stadium, forming a half-circle around a large stage. Judges sit in special seats up front, and also an altar where sacrifices are made to Dionysus, God of Celebration, Wine, and others of the like. A circular area fills the gap between stage and audience, where a group of actors known as the chorus performs songs and dances to explain what is happening on stage, where the masked actors mime their stories.

The Acropolis
A fortress on a gigantic hill where citizens might find shelter in time of danger, Athens is famous for its shrines and temples that litter the Acropolis they've built. Like a miniature village protected by walls, the Acropolis is a useful thing in times of war and it dominates the skyline, overlooking Athens below. You trod the Sacred Way to ascend the Acropolis, which the hill it perches on is also named. A few sub-forums within make up an important part of Athens.

Outskirts
Dispersing from busy city to empty wilderness takes a bit, and the inbetween can be frequently visited by sparse city folk. Often it happens that a hero and monster clash nearby, as monsters attempting to invade Athens must pass through the hilly plains marked with vague trees and thorny brambles.

Mountain Range
The rocky hills steepen into a mountain, one of the frequent in Greece. Caves litter the cliffside, ideal locations for monsters to dwell. Dark shadows lather the rock walls, and a narrow path winds untidly along the face, treacherous to hikers, yet helpful for the most able-footed monsters. Whoever carved the trail into the mountain has remained anonymous, but some rumor that it was an intelligent, peace-loving monster trying to make amends with the villagers. But that's ridiculous, right?
For monsters could never be anything but evil.
They're just too different.

White Rapids
Descending the summit of the murderous mountain, you come across a heady blockade of froth-tipped rapids. The current is a swift beast below the surface, awaiting victims to drown in its saccharine depths from which escape is impossible. It appears as a pearl vein slit into the side of the cliff, until, upon further inspection, can be seen as a sloping, downhill river that floods its contents into a bloated lake.

The Loch
As the wicked tides of the river pass into the bowels of the mountain-fenced lake, it smooths into a calm-tempered mirror only faintly stirred by the breeze. Billows of grass flirt alongside the shoreline, the crystalline water tinted as the sun is - whether aqua, red, pink, orange, or simply golden.

Crossing Rivers
There are five rivers to the Underworld, each serving seperate purposes. Upon arriving in the dark, solemn world beneath, you must cross the river of hate, Styx, but to do so you must pay a fee to the ferryman, Charon. The other four rivers consist of Acheron, river of woe, Cocytus, river of lamentation, Phlegethon, river of fire, and Lethe, river of forgetfulness, of which all souls drink from to forget their previous lives. After crossing the Styx, you must pass under the three-headed dog Cerberus, who will let the souls pass but never come back.

Judgement Hall
All spirits pass through the Judgement Hall, where their verdict upon their eternity is handed out by the three judges gifted to eternally pick the righteous and the deserving from the wicked. Rhadamanthus, son of Zeus and Europa; Minos the First, son of Zeus and Europa; and Aeacus, son of Zeus and the nymph Aegina, are the three chosen for the task. Heroes recieve immunity against this, though.

Elysian Fields
Heroes automatically pass through Judgement Hall to Elysian Fields, a realm resembling an elegant village for those who are alive. Feasts, hunts, and races are regularly held for the dead heroes to participate in or merely enjoy. Having succumbed to the drink of Lethe, most have forgotten that they are indeed deceased. Persephone makes habit of wandering into Elysian Fields, also known as simply Elysium, to watch the heroic souls perform their festivities, as their company tends to be filled with mirth, whereas the company of Hades holds a solemn, awkward atmosphere.

Asphodel Fields
To those who did nothing spectacular in their lives, they are sent here. It's simply an endless expanse of Asphodel, a type of bland weeds. The sun shines, but only dully, without a hint of warmth. The breeze is as lifeless as the wandering souls within it, muttering to themselves as time passes in lapses of eternity. Those who did neither good nor bad are doomed to a forever of boredom. However, it beats Tartarus. Right?

Tartarus
When here, you'll be screaming to be in the drab Asphodel Fields. The three Furies, Tisiphone, Megaera, and Alecto, torture the occupants depending on their sins from their lives. From standing in a pool of water that you can never drink from to pushing a rock up a hill only to have it forever roll back down, they get creative and quite cruel. The Furies are also known as Erinyes, and the alive folks above will come then The Kindly Ones, though they're quite the opposite of kind. Tartarus is surrounded by a wall of bronze and a three-fold layer of night. Phlegethon surrounds the hell house, with its gnashing rocks and dancing flames. As if the blockades were not enough to revert any escape attempts, Tisiphone will guard atop an iron tower with her bloody robes and biting whip, alongside a hundred-headed giant.

The Palace
Hades, with his unwilling queen Persephone, have to have somewhere to live, right? With walls of ebony bricks, iron towers that twist crooked talons into the sky, red carpet lining the cold black marble floors, and silent souls that consist of the staff, it is a somber yet magnificant building.
