In the wake of news of a possible alliance between the Federation, Sirrah and Seher, Kurultai and Etheos have mobilized their entire force stationed in Dariel to enact a counterattack to stop such a super-faction from forming. Their plan is simple; surround, cripple, confuse, and destroy. They aim not only to sever the potential ties between the empires, but to drive all three of them off of the islands to establish control of the entirety of Dariel. Seher, Sirrah and the Federation, however, are scrambling to form a counterattack powerful enough to send Kurultai and Etheos running. Either way, it is apparent that whomever emerges the victor, they may easily clean up the remaining opposition and establish control of the entire region.
As promised, Iron and Blood has reached 50 in-character posts, and now the board's very first canon battle has been released. If your character can fight and has a reason to fight for their empire, joining is an absolute must. As the battle progresses, new obstacles, new enemies, and new turns of events perpetuated by the actions of your characters will help determine the victor of such a pivotal fight.
Once a faction has proven superior over all others and has claimed the Isle of Dariel for themselves, there are a wealth of advantages that come with its control. First and foremost, the empire that controls Dariel has a massive naval supremacy over the other factions. Own Dariel, and you pretty much own the entire Draernoch Sea. This allows one to better defend the Isle from attack, as well as gaining an advantage in attacking other regions by sea. Dariel also contains a wealth of sulfur, which is used to manufacture explosives; this will open up some special technologies that can be utilized by the controlling faction. The control of Dariel (and thus its further exploration and settlement) also opens up the possibility of discovering new areas, items, technologies, or resources.
This topic not only announces the start of the battle, but can also be used to ask the Valkyrie questions about the battle (terrain, other surroundings, armaments available, etc.) as well as a general OOC discussion and planning area, where one can plot possible strategies, partner up with others in an allied empire, or toss friendly banter at each other.
Good luck, Valkyrie Ölrún

Authmaelui: At this point in time, there are no "rounds," meaning members may post out of order if they so choose. If this becomes a problem, rounds may be incorporated into future canon battles. My sincerest apologies for neglecting to mention this in the actual post; I will try to correct that as soon as possible. Deus ex Alice: The terrain that the Sirrah-Seher base is built on is relatively flat, but the area surrounding it is somewhat hilly, but not very rugged; vegetation is somewhat sparse beyond grasses and scrub. The base is built near the coast of the island, where there is a small black-sand beach that leads to the ocean. My apologies for not describing this, I will try to include more information about the terrain in my next post. To answer your second question, the leader of the Kurultai-Etheos force has already been introduced briefly, and the leader of the Sirrah-Seher (and eventually the Federation) forces will be revealed upon their respective entrances into the battlefield. These are great questions, keep them coming!

Who will be controlling them OOCly. A Valkyrie, or a player-character?
And might each side get informed of their battleplan, or will someone in charge tell us when we march out? o.o
Any new/goofy equipment we'll see? xD

The Valkyrie will be controlling all prominent NPC's, yep. At the moment, the goal of all members of Sirrah, Seher and the Federation involved should focus on preparing and defending themselves while trying to reduce the chaos caused by the attack. For Kurultai and Etheos, a basic battle plan was described in a monologue-type section of text in the opening in-character area of the post; it is assumed the soldiers within this alliance are aware of this plan. Probably not in this battle, beyond the occasional ribauldequin utilized by Kurultai's forces.

Is the camp primarily tents and cloth, or something more like a fortress? Also, will the siege weapons continue to fire upon opposition?

All of the current bases on Dariel are mostly tents, gers and other primarily cloth or felt constructions; more permanent (though not entirely self-sufficient, based on the ecology of the isle) settlements will be established once the region is conquered. The siege weapons have continued to fire on opposition, but will cease relatively soon. This will not be the only barrage.
I plan to make my second reply to the topic (as well as a long-overdue reply to Clash of the Outriders) Sunday afternoon; I will be busy for the rest of the week until that time. My apologies for the delay.

What's the compass directions of the forces? More importantly, who will face a setting sun and who will face a rising sun?
What time of day did the Axis of Awesome attack the Tripart of Fail? And what time did they leave their bases?
(Just including some st00f in muh post I'd like to not make up incorrectly xD)
