"Not through speeches and majority decisions will the great questions of the day be decided - that was the great mistake of 1848 and 1849 - but by iron and blood."
- Otto von Bismarck

Iron and Blood is a literate, freeform, play-by-post roleplaying forum set in an original fantasy universe. The following is a list of features that sets us apart from the crowd.
    1. The forum is headed by a team of several friendly, active admins whose level of moderating power is completely equal. There is no "head admin" that is above them all.
The fact that Iron and Blood has a leading team of several administrators prevents one admin from seemingly rising above or overriding the opinions of the others; it is an extremely efficient, self-disciplined system that achieves goals quickly and makes decisions based on a consensus. Iron and Blood's admins are friendly, courteous to members, and always open to suggestions.

    2. Iron and Blood's unique requisition system allows members to receive items and equipment in an in-character, logical manner.
Our requisition system allows characters the flexibility to get any item or skill that is logical for their character to have, based on in-character actions and development. There are no "shops" in the traditional sense of the word, only lists of proposed equipment for those that do not wish to create their own spells, skills, or equipment; they do not restrict you in any way. Iron and Blood's requisition system, in a nutshell, allows creativity to flow without breaking the balance of the game or requiring members to make massive amounts of roleplay posts. See this topic for more info.

    3. The continent of Kande, in which the board is set, is divided into regions; these regions may dynamically shift in control based on the actions of characters roleplaying in them, especially during special "canon battles." Your roleplaying thus effects the world on a grand scale!
Whether it be defending a Federation outpost against an onslaught of Kurultai warriors or leading a small-group assault to weaken Seher's hold on a region, your actions may effect which factions control which regions, providing numerous benefits for you and the rest of the empire you represent. Some regions thus far have been unexplored; you may someday stumble on a completely new forum up for the taking.

    4. With the active intervention of special storytellers called Valkyries and Narrators, your actions will frequently have realistic consequences.
It is said that the valkyries of myth would determine the results of battles; in Iron and Blood, this couldn't be more true. Along with the Valkyries, Narrators (or lesser storytellers) may randomly post in topics adding an unexpected plot twist or create the consequences of an action. For example, if a character attacks a city and plays as though there is no resistance, a Narrator or Valkyrie may post creating guardsmen to resist, or even throwing your character into prison temporarily. Iron and Blood is quite simply dedicated to realism.

    5. In-character positions allow characters to climb the military ladder, command troops, and more.
Along with your character's emotional and physical growth during your time in Iron and Blood, you may also apply to grow within the army, becoming a military officer of steadily increasing rank. Not only do you gain more respect with your faction in-character, but officership also opens up opportunities to command certain numbers of NPC soldiers on the battlefield, or requisition unique officer items. With creativity you may send your men into the fray to help push your faction to victory.

    6. With Iron and Blood, you can choose almost any race under the sun and place them in one of the board's five distinct factions.
Each of Iron and Blood's five factions have their own strengths and weaknesses, and are full of personality; choose to patriotically fight under one banner or walk the line unaffiliated.
