character restrictions, Every site has characters that aren’t allowed to be taken by members. You know, the old ‘NPC’ lark. So, here’s our list of what we won’t allow, and I’ve included why I don’t want them on the board. Hopefully you’ll see why I think they’re a bad idea. 1. Non-canon Time Lords! We have a handful of canon Time Lords here, but I don’t think we should go mad. Generally, any non-canon Time Lords are a no, unless you have a brilliant back-story and can convince me otherwise. Sorry. 2. Members of another evil, offshoot organisation! The Time Agency is a fantastic organisation for any selfish or slightly evil character. We don’t want to start creating little ‘mafia’ cliques all around the place. 3. Time Vortex-absorbing characters!Rose Tyler was absolutely one in a million. No more, thanks. 4. Meta-Crisis characters! You saw what happened with Donna Noble and the Meta-Crisis Doctor, right? Plus, the circumstances are too convoluted. 5. ‘Supernatural’ aliens!Okay, so Doctor Who managed to get a werewolf into the story, but no vampires, ghosties and the like. Unless you can come up with a magnificently ‘scientific’ reasoning for them being here. The board’s about a pair of sci-fi shows – it’s not Buffy or anything like that. 6. ‘Magical’ characters!Telepathy, telekinesis – Time Lord traits. They’re also in a few alien races, so that’s all allowed. Start adding Charmed-esque magic into the mix, and… sci-fi, remember? 7. Daleks, Cybermen and similar villains!Okay, we love villains. They’re awesome. And I love evil aliens, humans and Time Lords. So why not these? Well, they can’t hide in open society. A Dalek can’t nip down the street. Plus, they have no potential for growth as characters – they’ll never change. And that’ll be boring for you. Any Daleks/Cybermen/etc will be NPC’d by a member of staff – if they appear, that is! 8. Time Lord-esque aliens! No other alien species should have a regenerative ability, or any other Time Lord-y thing. Fair enough, right? 9. Ridiculously powerful aliens!Everything’s gotta be fair for everyone, right? If a member of staff thinks that your character is too powerful, we’ll ask you to seriously tone it down. It’s no fun having a character that can’t be defeated, anyway! 10. Immortality! No immortals. We have some Time Lords that are close enough, and the new Yan Harper knows all the problems to do with being unable to die. Bad idea, trust me. The big ten, right? Hopefully I haven’t missed anything. But if there’s something you think I’ve missed, or there’s something you want to put in a character but are unsure about it, then just PM me. It’s all easily talked through, right? Fun times!
