I justpicked up the VC book and saw a 2500 point game played with VC's vs. Ogres. VC's totally ruled. I read that ghouls got more expensive but they still rock! Zombies are dirt cheap and plentiful. The Crypt Horrors are Large and Regenerate. Not to mention the number and variety of LARGE monsters and special choices.
So I ask you, did they "Cut their teeth" on the Tomb King's book and get it right with the Vampires? I tend to think so.
What say you?

I think it's still a little early to decide, in the grand scheme of things it's only just come out. There are thing they do better, sure. But I think there are things we do nicely too (like having a shooting phase and a damn reliable one at that too).
Ogre's has a very good solution for both the zombies and ethereals, they are called Yeti's and they are basically Ogre's with magical attacks and as far as I understand it any units they are in contact with get a -1 to their WS (no minimum) leaving Zombies with 0, meaning they are hit automatically and can't attack (since they can't hit). I've also seen Mournfang run over a whole VC army recently, while in general I haven't had THAT amazing trouble against Ogres. Admittedly I haven't had to deal with Maneaters yet so who can say?
