Title: Vs Empire
Description: Tactica for Empire - new books

I play the majority of my games against a (good) Empire opponent. Now that he's taken off his mourning garments over mortars being nerfed, I see
Halberd spam with warrior priests for each unit; 10x5
Cannon - 2
Volley gun
as being the core of most lists. What do we have that stacks up well against the Empire? Keep in mind that he's likely to run a level 4 with dwellers so hordes of skellies/archers are fragile, esp if 2 level 4 wizards reside within!
Lists with a Hierotitan and two Warsphinx strike me as vulerable to cannon
ETBtS units will regret coming up within 24" of the (much improved) volley gun
Any thoughts?

Point level? Lets just assume 2400. I tend to run all comers ever time I play but this helps. The new leadership perks for empire are great. Much like our book, killing thier characters is key. Generals and captains are cheap and make units tend not to run. Warrior preists and arch lectors are much like necrotects, equally pointed but can cast some nasty augments. So what comes to mind? Lore of death. Snipe them. Also tomg guard do very well against empire. Empire in genral are low toughness, high armor. Killing blow fixes that. Lastly take stlakers to kill warmachines, and any type of three altars. Empire is all synergy. Take that away, well, they just get wrecked.
The only units I entombed are stlakers. When they come up, they will easily destroy the helblaster. You only need three sixes. Also stalkers are good against all mounted units they have. So what if they have a 1up. You always wounds of sixes. It is devastating

I have not been impressed with stalkers, but will try them some more...
They seem to kill themselves off as much as they kill anything?
I run in a no special characters invironment, so no Khaida lists

No special characters? I don't understand the logic behind that sorry, and that seriously disadvantages Tomb Kings as special characters are some of their major strengths.
Personally what I plan on doing is running Arkhan with a casket of souls,( you could run a lvl 4 death priest instead) he can reduce their leadership and snipe enemy heroes, while the casket fires away, weakening their units immensely until a chariot unit sweeps into them on them along with a collosus..
To take out warmachines, a tomb scorpion could work, ro carrion, or even for fun a lvl 1 nekharan priest with cloak of dunes, flying over the enemy lines twice in one movement phase.
To get all this magic through a hierotitan would help. For making the most of their low leadership and big blocks maybe a ssc could help, destroying their large ranked up units, and sometimes taking pot shots at cannons.

the no special characters ruling goes back to the 5th and 6th edition days when they were more broken and used multi slots not alot of people liked that and some people never got off the ban when they started making them like pre kitted lords and heros rather than a game breaking entity. (not saying there arnt still broken SC's just less broken ones)
