Title: What Army To Alliance With Tomb Kings?
Description: who would you ally with?

So as the topic states What army would you have an alliance with if you could?
Reason I ask is the alliance rules are being allowed with minor rules
Allies may be used with the following restrictions:Desperate Allies may not be used, but alliances may degrade into desperate allies during the game. An Allied force must contain at least 1 core unit and 1 character Allied forces do not count toward minimum percentage requirements for core. Other than Core, allied forces count against total percentages. Allied forces which become desperate allies are not considered for battle points, but do give up victory points as normal. You may ally as many armies as you wish, as long as you meet the above restrictions
I have been considering taking something that could give me alternative magic lores and something that helps our army and fill a weak point. Maybe something with lore of life so I could heal characters or maybe heal constructs better then 1 wound. Or maybe increase the toughness of my crappy skellys. Or maybe something else.
I have models for high elves and They would give me any magic lore I wanted. Then maybe some longbows for the 1 core unit required or maybe just some spearmen. since they are ASF and get to attack in an additional rank. Yes the weaknesses are that they could break and run but, not to worried.
Maybe a good army to ally with would be chaos warriors or maybe vampire counts.
What or who would you ally with and why?

I think High Elves.
Great magic and great elite troops. I know you've said you'd like to buff your troops but another idea is to get flaming sword on your archers for the +1 to wound or the metal spell of +1 to hit would be pretty cool as well. Lots of options though that's for sure. :D

Chaos Demons. Their infantry is way better than ours and a Slannesh wizard pairs so well with a death wizard and the casket its just not fair.
1. Cast Phantasmagoria:
(10+ all enemy units on the battlefield must roll an extra D6 when rolling Ld tests of any kind, discarding the lowest dice. Lasts until the start of the casters next magic phase)
2. Cast Doom & Darkness -3 LD.
3. Hit things with Casket & Skulls of Foe SSC.
4. Profit.
With the Phantasmagoria and D&D on something important you can also cast:
Slicing Shards of Slaanesh: Cast on 7+. Magic Missile, range 24”. Deals D6 S5 hits. Target must then take a Ld test. If they pass the spell ends, if failed they take another D6 Strength 5 hits. Continues until unit passes a Ld test.
Pavan of Slaanesh: Cast on 8+. Target single enemy model within 24”, LOS needed. Must pass a Ld test or take D6 wounds, no armour saves.

Very effective in theory, Tonberry, but that's a hell of a lot of spells to get off in a phase!
Personally I would ally with some highly effective combat troops. Warriors, Beasts, Dwarfs, whatever. I'd just love to approach a non-magically altered combat with optimism!

I'm not sure I understand...
and to be fair bloodletters and those demon dogs are pretty solid units.
and D&D is remains in play, so all you *need* to be effects is phase and casket. 4 dice casket is horrific.

Yeah, it's nice. And a good idea.
I just think that in an alliance, we might as well go for something that just works, instead of might work. The winds of magic are notoriously fickle around my way!

As I said High elves. :)
Casket - +D3
Banner of Sorcery - +D3
Jewel of the Dusk - +1PD
Lore of Death perhaps with Book of Hoeth to regen your magic phase.
Just an idea. ;)

O_o Vampire Counts... if I could borrow my Vampire Count buddies army. If not I'd have to do woodelves (only other army I own).
Vampire Counts healing, Wood Elves healing *shrugs*

Anything chaos in general would be good for us as out close combat would get a huge boost. I like your ideas Tonberry, sounds strangely like how I run one of my daemon armies... still prefer all nurgle but run a keeper of secrets and the mask with the -2 leadership banner was evil. Making my list more balanced now. We TK just need basic support so Daemons seem to be good for that.

Considering I tend to run faster, more aggressive armies, I'd say Bretonnia. I could have an entire army of move 6+ units, some of which can actually march. I can have LoLife and/or LoHeavens (Heavens is grossly underrated imo) and Bretonnian Knights have something we sorely lack outside of marching in good armor saves.
If I were going to try and abuse the magic phase in a way that I would find entertaining, I co-sign the Slaaneshi Daemon idea and would also consider Slaaneshi WoC (I love Slaanesh, if you can't tell).
