Title: Tomb King Questions

Yethoth - February 10, 2011 11:58 PM (GMT)
I want to ask the the pros about some tomb king background stuff

1- are Tomb Kings/tomb princes intelligent - what I mean is that vampire counts have really good backgrounds, they are still sorta alive if you know what I mean but is that the same as tomb king or is it simply a powerful walking mummy or are they more like the thing from the movie the mummy, alive but dead as well.

2- what is the Tomb Kings motives? are they all evil because the way I see it they were awakened too early but they aren't necessary evil surely they wouldn't hate EVERYONE, wasn't it nagash fault they are like that, wouldn't they help those who attack undead etc... I know silly

3- a question, did the Tomb Kings only exist in Nehekhara, wouldnt a king (since there were many fighting each other) leave somewhere away (I am thinking Lustria themed Tomb Kings)

thank you

:D

Answer -1 yes think of the mommy movies, they are intelligent but awakened Dead

#2 Their main motive is to reclaim there lands which extended far beyond Nehekhara, some are also probably attempting to reclaim stolen treasures and take vengeance on the vampires as well.

#3 There are stories of Tomb Kings in Cathay, Nippon and areas between, also from before in the lands where the empire and bretonnia now stand, possibly in lustria but i doubt it cause thats where the old ones lived but maybe.

As for Background? Anything you want it to be your Tomb Kings could have been a great expedition force that landed in lustria many a decade ago Enslaved and converted the Lizardmen ( tough but anything is possible), you could make skeleton lizardmen ( i would just use the same models but paint it bone color)

Your Tomb Kings could have also been jedi, its up to you realyy

Or alternatively you could think of the mummy movies.

1. They are intelligent but reside in an animated mummified dead body.

2. They reclaim their lost Kingdoms and stolen treasures. Settra, the 'overlord' wants the whole of Old Nehekhara which includes part of the Bad Lands, Empire, Tilea, Dark Lands, Arabya and Southlands.

3. see 2

This makes me happy, I can convert them into a nice evil looking kingdom, I am thinking ash black bones with ancient red markings all over the bones likes runes but more ancient.....I am thinking they come from some volcanic dark forest

Lakomasoi - February 11, 2011 01:59 PM (GMT)
If you do this add some white to the rocks on the base it helps make the darker colors pop out.

What about making it a snowy region and somehow add small amounts of snow onto the skeleton bodies and the base....

Lakomasoi - February 11, 2011 07:22 PM (GMT)
That could work very well im doing something Similar with my skaven eshin branch, GW and other companies make snowy region basing stuff, so take a look online and see what you can find. and keep us posted please

If your going for a volcanic looking army rather then doing snow you could do a light gray ash. I dont realy know how you would go about doing it but there is a volcano located in the brittle peaks so it kinda works fluff wise.

Lakomasoi - February 12, 2011 03:03 AM (GMT)
To get the ash look paint the base shadow gray and highlight with Fortress Grey thats the best result i could find

+++ A light grey would look nice, what are you thinking about for bases? Cork for volcanic or just sand?

In the 6th edition book, it makes references to "Barrow Kings", who were animated by Druids in much the same way as Heirophants.

1. Definitely intelligent (proud and haughty)
2. All the same motives as a living nation (increase prosperity of their domain and extend borders as much as possible)
3. And yes they conquered pretty much all of the old world, in the 6th ed army book there's a map that shows how far their territory stretched at the peak of their empire. They ruled all of the northern lands that are now Brettonia and the Empire and their domain even stretched down into the southern jungles. The time of legends novels about Nagash mention that the city of Rasetra conquered a number of lizardman cities in the southlands and as such when the Rasetrans went to war it was usually with giant reptilian war beasts and lizardman conscripts at their side.
You could feasably have a Tomb Kings army themed to have come from basically anywhere. Hope that gives you some food for thought.

I was browsing quickly through the codex (awesome stuff) and a particular image stood out for me on page 94 under the necrosphinx, its an image of Tomb Kings side by side with high elves surrounded by daemons, is there some fluff based around this alliance would be sort a cool.

I didn't read the whole army book but maybe someone has, is there some fluff based on this or is it simply a fun picture.

Also what does the 8th say about TK and daemons, do they hate daemons like they used to when they were human, would they save a village from a daemon attack etc....

(didn't want to start a new thread might as well use this as my questions page.) :D

In the BRB, the Tomb Kings are one of the few "Neutral" armies. I believe, if perhaps convinvced by a Changeling, they would fight for Daemons of Chaos. They will fight on either side, as long as it helps them get one of their artifacts or reclaim some of their lost territory.

Something to keep in mind as well is that all the forces of the Tomb Kings are 'intelligent'. Whereas the Vampire Counts mind control their zombies and skeleton souls to fight for them, the TK Skeletons are all free-willed, and choose to fight for their Tomb King. They don't remember much of their past lives, but they are only under the control of their leaders inasmuch as any living soldier would be.

And if you're looking for volcanic basing, might I recommend Red Iron Games? They (or me, really. I'm shamelessly plugging here) do custom bases, and have some rather nice volcanic designs. (PM me if interested.)

the actual Tomb Kings are just like they were in life just but in there dead body they were protected by the glyphs and spells used to seal their pyramids, they have memories of their past life and this is why they are angry and want to reclaim their once great empire and the stuff that was stolen from them
everything except Tomb Kings were not buried in pyramids and had full effect of spell and only have one thought, to serve there king through war.
