I was at a friends house (he plays orcs) and i was looking throught the orc book and they have this magic weapon that gives the wielder a bouns equal to his units rank bouns to both is atacks and strenght (the items 100 points so only a lord can take it). This means that if he took a black orc warboss with this he'd have (with max rank bouns) WS7 S8 A7 ohmy.gif !!!!!!! If he put that in a unit of like 35-40 orcs with light armor and shelds their would be know way to kill 15-20 before combat!!! HELP!!!!! How should I deal with this!?!?!?!?

I would suggest using SSC
Orcs have pretty low Ld so they break easily
But anyways a unit of that size makes it a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE target so you'll hit/kill something and hope to god they run.

Yea I think I'm gonna focus all my fire at that unit including Incantation of vegeance if I don't have anythin better to do with one of my inncantations.... I hope it works...............

I would be more concerned about him bringing Shaggas Sword. It's only 50 points, and it gives an extra attack PLUS an extra point of strength for any enemy character within 12 inches of him. If he put's the kickin' boots on the warboss, he could have 9 strength 9 attacks, if he's within 12 inches of 4 of your characters!

I know what your saying but in that case i would just have to keep my characters away from him, lock a unit of skele warriors up with his unit and keep ressurecting them.

the other option is to flank the unit. he then gets no S or A bonus

well i had to take down such a unit couple of weeks ago against my friend, the easiest way is to combo charge, somthing you should ALWAYS do with TK.

we dont have those overpowered units of Doom, we just have our tactics and potentialy fastest movement in Warhammer

i dealt with that easily, double combo charged it with chariots on both flanks while i fed it Skeleton archers with a champ in a conga line, so the nasty black orc could only target the champ biggrin.gif

i massacred the unit no probs with King on one side with Blade of mourning and Prince with Chariot of Fire on other side.

black orc bigboss never saw action cept for that champ who took the challenge

to every combo there is a counter,

never forget to combo charge when u play as TK, thats what we have

actually the casket is decent for this as O&G are one of the last armies that is actually effected decently by it, so use that for the first turn or two then chariot flanks and tarpit. maybe some carrion in the back just for kicks and giggles

Actually I would attack the Orc WarBoss head on with a Tomb King. With that 100pt weapon he won't have anthing for a save. He'll have Heavy Armour, Shield for a 3+ armour save and no Ward Save. You could easily kill an Orc Warboss on the charge.

Flail of Skulls would work great here. 4 Strength 7 attacks. You would need 4's to hit. So on average you would get 2 hits through. Than 1's fail to wound thanks to the strength 7 and -4 to the armour save. You should be able to do 2 wounds that cannot be saved that become 4 total wounds. Equals one dead Orc Warboss.

If he masses a huge block... flank it and charge it in the rear with carion.

If you get a flank with 3+ chariots and at the same time a charge in the rear with Carion - you'll negate his bonus, the lord won't even get to attack - it is highly likely that you break that unit (assuming you do at least a few wounds. But you'll get +3 just from the charges (flank + rear, I'm not 100% sure if they stack).

The only issue with that is that orcs generally have a lot on the field, so it might be easier said than done to flank charge - but you could always break a unit with TK in a 5 chariot unit, and have it over run into them as well...

Also if you take whatever the item that is two auto hits, you'll get to use it twice on his lord before he gets attacks back - might even kill em.

Or my favorite option? Just ignore it! March block with carrion and watch your much faster units (on the charge at least) take out his sides.

Dual Catapaults with enemy skulls(whatever its called) should get that unit quickly. Supported with a priest to make one double shoot, that could take of that unit easily. Multiple charges with chariots in the flanks and/or rear would also work, but could also backfire and hurt you.

How to deal with a unit like that? Well most things have been covered but my advice is just ignore it. The downside to being able to take advantage of that sword is being in a large block of infantry or a ridiculously expensive cavalry regiment.

The infantry block you can ignore and outmaneauvre. Flank charge if you need to but in all honesty just avoid it. warboss + 100pt sword doing nothing. However a little more difficult if they have spent the points on the cavalry - then it is SSC time/smiting archers. Wittle off enough to reduce the effectiveness of the sword.

Seems to be an oft forgotten tactic that you do not need to actually fight these huge point sinks at all ninja.gif
