Hey guys, so I'm just starting fantasy with a few buddies. I've chosen TK and am trying to figure out how to field something reasonble at 500 pts.

One guy is going O&G with something like

15 Savage orc big'uns with XHW(maybe FC, maybe a few more bodies)

5 savage orc boar riders with XHW

5 goblin spider riders

lvl2 orc shaman(might be on a boar too)

The other guys is going empire and will have

Warrior priest with Enchated shield(in the halberdiers)

25 Halberdiers with FC

10 archers with mus

3 demigryph knights.

These don't seem like unreasonale list to me, but I can't seem to come up with anything to compete with them.

I've been thinking along the lines of

15 TG w/ FC
-195

3 necroknights
-195

LP w/ lvl 2
-105

Total: 395

OR

LP w/ lvl2
-105

26 Skeleton warriors w/ FC
-160

8 Horse Archers
-70

3 Chariots
-165

Total: 500

Neither list looks like it would hold up to the O&G/Empire lists.

So what would you guys suggest? I know 500 pts is hard to TK, but what's the best we can do?

I am going to purchase my first bunch of models on friday so I have a lot of leeway on what I can take tongue.gif

Casket of souls. In a low points game like that they won't have the dice to stop it, your magic phase will be bolstered, and those small units of cavalry will wither under it's fire. Your list with Tomb guard and Necro Knights isn't viable because you don't have any core. I'd say go on the defensive and get a unit of 15 or so archer for your LP to chill with. Shoot the piss out of stuff on it's way to you, get some knights if you like and let them charge into the side of whatever makes it to your archers. Or..

You could take that second list of yours, drop the skeleton warriors, add a casket, and put your liche on a horse and have him ride with the archer. Then you could have a little mobility and still be dropping light of death on them.

i thought of something my self and ya it's hard to fit nearly anything in there but here's what i came up with

Lvl 2 Liche

15 Archers

3 Chariots

Casket

basically sit back and have him come to you as even the chariots have bows, you will basically dominate magic with the casket like zakkatyr said and then when he gets close hit hin with the chariots!

orrr even better

Liche Lvl 2

10 Archers

3 Necro Knights

Casket

same plan but the necrokights are even meaner than chariots!

I really like the archers knights casket combo. I think that could win you some games.

It is :/ Thanks for the suggestions so far though guys.

What about something like

3 Chariots
-165

15 TG
-165

SSC
-90

LP lvl 1 with steed
-80

total 500

less magic, but gives some hitting power and a ranged threat

Crap, you're right. Quick, get them to switch to 550 point games!

Well, officially, you would be in trouble anyway as you need a hierophant and a general, which will always be more than 125 points even when you take a naked level 1 liche and a naked herald/necrotect...

If I were you I'd discuss with my friends to either make the army size a bit bigger (like 750 points - they'll like buying magic items) and/or loosening the composition rules a bit.

Your hierophant can also be your general. You don't have to have two separate models.

I think your modified list is pretty solid. Good combat unit, with nice punch from the chariots. Only problem is where to put the hierophant. He will be quite easy to pick out, and will get no LOS roll since you have no other cavalry. I think he would be better on foot in the TG.

Seriously? Call me a fossil - this must be something still left in my system from last edition...

Still you should encourage them to make the size a little bigger, at this points value you'll suffer. tongue.gif

ok so i thought of this

Lvl 2

15 Archers, music

3 Necro Knights

SSC

orr

Lvl 2 Liche

10 Archers, music

3 Necro Knights, banner

SSC with SOF

at this point value you can put SOF to good use as a lack of over all high LD models and no bsbs it might actually make your oppenent run away!

forget the one-of SSC. take them in two or don't take them at all and since 180 is over 25% of five hundred well... You get what I am saying. Just forget them at this point level.

-lvl2 LP (105)
-archers x20 (120)

Thats your start right there. The rest could be just about anything and still be good, but I have played alot of 500 point games and those are the two units you don't want to be without.

Edit: Don't take any kind of cavalary at this point value if you play TK. They are totally useless at 500.
