Warseer has multiple confirmations on a rumour of 8th Edition WFB as early as summer 2010. If this is true it almost certainly means TK wont get a 7th Ed army book, and give how popular TK are (or rather how popular they aren't) it could be a long time before we get an update.

The new edition is expected to hit June/July, which doesn't leave enough time from Beasts of Chaos (Feb) to fit another army release in unless they REALLY force it through. Indications are that the first AB of 8th will be Greenskins, which will presumably be followed by the rest of the "popular" armies, Empire, Dwarfs, etc.

Its a real pity they didn't wait a year and fit TK, Ogres and Brets in to begin the cycle afresh for 8th...

How long do you think we'll have to wait now?

Hmm... Given all the hints about 2010 being the 'year of fantasy' and whatnot I'm not entirely surprised by this.

As for how long we'll have to wait now...

There has always been a nagging doubt in the back of my mind as to whether we would actually get a new book at all. Though it's an uncomfortable thought for us TK fanatics, GW is first and foremost a business. It only makes commercial sense to A) focus on popular products, and B ) discontinue unpopular ones.

Given that a lot of our models are being (or already have been) withdrawn, I think we were all pretty hopeful that this was an indication that a new book might be on the cards. Now that that seems extremely unlikely, the withdrawal of our minis may actually have much less appealing ramifications for us all.

I sincerely hope that this is not the case and GW does not let TKs go the way of the dinosaur. Given that most of the rumors on Warseer generally tend to turn out to be a mixture of wishful thinking and outright BS, I'm not going to start losing sleep just yet...

...but I will be keeping my fingers crossed. sad.gif

I'm glad I'm not the only one with the sense of impending doom, I was beginning to think I was paranoid... I'm been afraid for a while that TK will go the way of Dark Eldar in 40k, they haven't had a new book for almost 3 editions.

What do you mean that our products are being "withdrawn"? The OLS still has all the existing TK range for sale.

well chaos dwarfs went the way of the dodo

and as far as it looks they will just get rid of un-popular armys and just make new armys for the sake of profits

they made the o-ger kingdoms to try and add freash blood to the game

but after typing this thinking about it how meny people would it take on a campain for GW to see we need a new book and that the people that follow the TK armys will not just say oh-well lets move on ?

Oh dear, lets not talk about Chaos dwarfs, they have a sizable online following and GW still has repeatedly declines to bring them back, and they were far more integrated into the WH fluff than TK ever have been. I hope to god that doesn't happen to us, I would rather limp on with an outdated book Dark Eldar style than face the extinction that Chaos Dwarfs suffered.

Many of our models are no longer available for restock to independant retailers (SSC, Scorpion and... something I've forgotten atm unsure.gif ). Some retailers may still have some stock remaining and they are all still available from GW via mail order. Historically, this is something GW does when it is going to bring out a new resculpt of an older model, and this has helped fuel the rise in rumors about a new TK book. So it's all good then eh?

Until you consider that it's also standard practice if they are going to discontinue the army entirely...

GW does not care about campaigns, it cares about profits. If TK are not showing a significant profit then they will stop making the models. It's just that simple.

I certainly hope this is not the case and we will indeed get the highly awaited (at least by the faithful few) new book we've all been waiting for. But since we are not, by any means a big seller, I think a certain amount of paranoia is perhaps justified.

GW wont let a book limp on if it cost to much cash they just chop it off like a bad leg/arm then it on to newer armys for them

as so my local does only stock the battalion and the book for the TK.

Also i got my copy of the TK book when i was 14 that was 6 years ago and all they done is put a small border round the newer books they print out

so i think saddly the way things looks its eather pray to settra or find a new army

Well I don't think we're there just yet.

If the rumors are to be believed then we will indeed get a new book sometime next year and everything will be rosy. Even if GW did kill off the TKs then there is nothing to stop us from continuing to play them as so many others have done in the past when faced with a similar choice.

I'm still quietly optimistic about the new book. Untill we hear something official from GW I'm not going to worry...

...Too much.

The rumours I heard are quite opposite... The armies of 2010 would indeed be beastmen and TK. TK would even be released before beastmen, because GW plans on releasing beastman in their 'big wave of chaos', which not only includes new beastmen, but also the second wave of daemons and warriors (several special character models, plastic seekers of slaanesh, new daemon prince,...).

The big wave of chaos would be part of a new GW campaign, like nemesis crown the last time, and would have a storm of chaos setting again (hence the big wave of chaos).

8th edition would be only after that. It is unlikely they would update O&G and empire already. It hasn't been a very long time since their last update.

Of course, these are merely rumours.

I don't see why they would remove TK's from the fantasy-setting. Skaven en Ogres are just as popular or even less popular as TK's and Skaven just got a 7th edition update!

Rumours are rumours rolleyes.gif

Warseer writes that the deadline for the 8th edition used to be 2010, it will probably be 2011 now, because there are more armies to update.

Don't forget; some armies may even skip a 7th edition update and will get an 8th edition instead (WE, brets, maybe ogres?).

Time will tell smile.gif

Yea I agree on that! Why don't they make "waves of good guys"? Sounds more fun to me (*votes for waves of angels*). wink.gif

I can't find any source that claims the TK's are going to be locked up in their catacombs for good. More sources say they will get a 7th edition update in the first half of 2010.

I'm being optimistic about this. Come on! They can't banish the coolest army of WHF, can they? cool.gif

There isn't one.

Horus and I were really just playing devils advocate a bit here based on the fact that TK are not a popular (or at least high selling) army, and the fact that some of our models have already been withdrawn.

All the rumors still point to a new TK book in the not too distant future.

Beasts are all but confirmed for release in February, there have been no firm rumours of a TK release, no suggestion that they are even working on the army book (though its possible they're keeping it well under wraps) and no sightings of possible new TK models.

In favour of Beasts they as good as said they were the next release after Skaven in one of the last couple of WDs, plus the book is known to be underway written by Andy Hoare.

I've heard bits and pieces of rumors of an upcoming TK release, however those "rumors" read an awful lot like optimistic wish-listing than believable rumors. That or someone will drop some cryptic post/statement in reference to TK, but when you ask them for additional information they get all crazy.

We can't locate any firm TK rumors because there are none. That isn't to say that they may not be working on things for us, we simply don't know and that's what's so difficult atm. I've been reading/hearing about an impending 8th edition for months in various places. Now this seems more and more like it may actually happen. I don't care about 8th edition. I just don't think there should be ANY armies still stuck in 6th edition when 8th is released.

But we all know that out of the remaining armies, us and Ogres are probably the most likely to be left behind...again. angry.gif

Way too early to worry about GW removing us from the game.

Despite not having heard much about what exactly will be changed or specific rumours. Have there been reliable rumours ahead 2-3 books before? I mean we got skaven and BoC ahead of us, skaven is just out, BoC are starting to get more solid rumours. What will pop up after BoC, who knows? Infact, only then we will know and even though only which army is next. This, at the moment, seem to indicate that TK is this "next army". Though GW, as I've been told, are not operating on a set-in-stone plan and things may change as time progress.
