I am making a new TK army, as Now I have a club going at my school and its on Warhammer fantasy.
Alot of people suggested that I Make a 20 large unit of Archers, then use some of the Cavalry to make more regular skellies. What do you think on the Battalion? -------------------- being a skeleton isnt that bad, you just have to deal with Linsay Lohan every once and a while

Hi,
I have found units of 20 archers with a standard very useful. You keep them in a big line shooting away until the enemy reaches you (don't forget to shuffle backwards...) then form into a block to receive the charge. I have found light horsemen are good too. Use them to redirect nasty units away from your weak stuff. As far as chariots go, I always use them to flank. Your archer blocks can hold up units and the chariots hit their flanks. You can even take nasty enemy units out of the game without engaging them. Just the threat of a flank charge from chariots (preferably accompanied by a character) can force units to constantly turn towards you and away from the rest of your army. The chariots might not see much combat for the whole game, but if your opponents big nasty unit doesn't either it's worth it. Hope some of that helps!! Cheers, Dave -------------------- |

Make all your infantry up as archers, lt armour/shield skellies just don't cut it in the current edition of warhammer. lso make your cavalry up as the archer variants too (light cavalry) as they are marginally less useless than heavy cavalry.
The chariots are the best thing about the battalion box, in fact with our current army list they're one of the best units we have. --------------------

Oh... I think that I will make twenty archers, though I think that I will get an extra box of Skeleton warriors to make as the CCW and Sheild, just because I would like to play the unit at least once. Also, I was wondering about Skeletal Spearman, are they good?
Also, I think I am going to make a Khalida stand in, using a person from the Skull Catapult set. The one with the two swords. I think that Khalida is the one that can make the Archers fire in the magic phase, which is good. -------------------- being a skeleton isnt that bad, you just have to deal with Linsay Lohan every once and a while

Skeletal spearmen are not good, not ever. Essentially what you get is you armour save lowered by 1 in favour of allowing the 2nd rank to fight when the unit is not charging. In the case of skeleton warriors the higher armour save is much more valuable, with the best will in the world a few extra WS2, St 3 attacks are rarely going to make any difference to the game and the spear upgrade makes an already overpriced unit even more expensive. Any of your Priests or Kings/princes can make a unit fire in the magic phase, its just that Khalida is the only one who can make it certain. --------------------

Oh. I think that I will take a unit anyways, as they were to be a 'Meat Shield' anyways, which means that they will hardly be moving.
What would you suggest for support of this army? I was thinking either a Catapult or a Bone Giant. -------------------- being a skeleton isnt that bad, you just have to deal with Linsay Lohan every once and a while

Chariots are fantastic! A king in a 3-5 strong chariot unit with spear of antarhak/flail of skulls and the +1 to hit banner can make nearly any unit autobreak on the charge, especially if casting smiting on the unit to reduce ranks and numbers before combat.
I use 9-12 chariots in my 2250 army and it does quite well, just beware of cannons |

Useless Chariots? Useless Chariots! Bah! Tomb King Chariots are possibly the best fast cavalry in the entire game of warhammer! If you use them to harass and outflank your foe, Chariots are perfect hammers help the anvils of your skeleton warriors.
I plan to run a chariot army (18 chariots at 2250) and use different size units for different roles. The army is still in the making, but I'm running a totally illegal 1k list with 9 chariots (Tomb Prince and 8 regular chariots) sometime this week against a friend of mine. Sure some well placed cannon could ruin my day, but really only if I offer good shots, which with the fast cavalry capabilities of Tomb King Chariots, I don't ever intend to! Also, incantation spamming can make these units operate to their deadliest potential, which is actually rather impressive. So before you call them useless, use them as fast cavalry sometime. Use them well and they'll not be useless. -------------------- My answer for how to improve your list: Chariots
