The Golden Ankh 2, Another more open ended one

Inspired by painting contests that have been on other sites, I feel it is time we start hosting them. Plus it is a great activity for the community as well, and can give us some extra fun while we await the release. It will also give more motivation to paint!


Subject Matter
I want this to be an easy one to get into, and something is still new for people. So you can paint *any* of the finecast character models (infantry only) for Tomb Kings.

Converting is allowed, but you have to use a finecast infantry model as the foundation.


Basing
Should be have basing material and standard base size for the model. No display boards.

How to Enter
Please take a few photographs, at the very least I ask for two (one front, one back). Max of 4 please. This will enable users to get both a "full view" of your entry.

Once you have taken your photos, submit to the user GoldenAnkhContest in a Private Message. This is an account I have set up that myself, and other staff, will have access to. It exists strictly for the purpose of the contest.

If you Win
I will be making a little signature banner, much like the one for CDO I have in my sig. It will have some nice art and "Golden Ankh 2 Winner: " followed by your username! You can display it proudly in your signature.

I am very likely to set up a "private" forum for discussion of future contests, in which staff and previous winners will get to discuss.

Bragging rights? ;-) Seriously though, it is for fun and to give extra motivation to people to paint. So in that sense you've already won a bit as well.


Once the deadline has passed, I will go through the entries and organize them. I will go on to create a thread for people to vote on the entries, and winners will be announced after the specified voting time passes.

Dang, I already did the only finecast character I'm ever going to get for my TK. Unless a new one pops out, no entry for me this time around...

I was considering letting finecast models in that were done already, partially because people may have already bought them.

If people are generally fine with it I may change that rule, to let a fine cast infantry model in even if was already done.

This is a slight exception to the normal way, as they are new releases... and people may have rushed to get them at the time.

Already painted Finecast model should be allowed, they are all quite new already, so it's not like it's a 1 year+ paint job. Only the old King with great weapon could be passed as a new model, since once painted you can't really tell the difference.

But the rest of them is all new scult, so even if someone want to pass the old King in this, it shouldn't be that bad.

But it's nice to see the second contest going on, I might or might not participate, but in any case, I hope for more participation this time!

Luckily enough I've not done my Tomb King yet so I'll be sure to get him done for this!

Ive got a necrotect ive just finished that i might enter. Depends on how my second one turns out thats going to need a bit of converting to fix.

I'm wondering what character to get; I was looking forward to converting a 'tect from scratch. Guess it'll have to be Apophas.

You should get mantic games to sponsor this. They've been great at it on other forums. We should get involved.

Indeed, this is perhaps a problem, but the one over at lustria online has nothing to do with mantic miniatures. I think they're much more interested in the exposure than the competition.

Sure, for this contest that would be cheeky.

But the next one, for example, could be "regiment of skeletons or TG, any manufacturer". Mantic would then have good incentive to sponsor it. Presumably that comes with some prize support, which makes everyone happy. Free minis for our winner, publicity for the company, everybody wins.

You know, this whole time i thought the contest ended a week ago rather than 3 weeks from now. I was about to demand pics and to know who wins the fabulous prizes.

I thought that too yesterday, but I wanted to compete, so I got annoyed with myself for always forgetting things, and then realised that it wasn't September yet.

Well ive snapped my paint brush (fml) so i guess ill have to enter the first necrotect i painted up. Ill send pics hopefully today or tomorrow.

Just picked up my first finecast figure (against my better judgement but it actually looks pretty good) so I should be able to enter this one.
