Dude! Fantastic result - very entertaining write-up.
It's very encouraging to see TKs doing well on the tourney scene, especially after all the whining/self-loathing that's been going on since release. Did you miss the halberds on the TG? Did you take HW/Sh with a specific plan in mind? How would you approach playing ogres? Cheers, And thanks again for the time and effort involved in the reports! MO |

The only point I missed the Halberds was when fighting the Ka'Daai Destroyer.
Other than that more bodies I find better. The TG I use as an anchor and point sink with so many attacks. Its best use is monsters and infantry counters. I always go HW/S combo. Its cheap which means more bodies, they still St4 which is fine vs most infantry, and you get a parry save! Anything they cant handle you shouldnt be hitting with them anyway. Thats what the 6 knights are for Funily enough I had tailored my army to suit fighting the current orge trend. Catapults hit ironblasters then move onto the infantry. Light of death vs the mournfang, followed by the necro knights to clean what else is left, archers turn the maneaters, ironguts, and bulls into ipin cusions, as these ogres are very vunerable to bow shot. The TG hoard then cleans up the infantry blocks. All in a perfect world -------------------- My TK Blog http://plastickrak.blogspot.co.nz/

Thanks for posting up the rest of the reports. Great read. The game against the Wood Elves was just a blood bath and like you said your list was the hard counter to his. Did he have a bit of a mental blank putting his level 4 in with the way watchers though?
Fantastic outcome against the Daemons in your last game, that army is one that really gives me nightmares but I guess we do have the tools to be able to take them out like you demonstrated and having a 600+ unit cowering behind scenery in fear of getting smashed is just gold. Great result and best of luck with Southcon! Are you running Tomb Kings at this? -------------------- |

Im not sure about the wood elf player. They are a funny bunch of tree huggers on the best of days
I was actually a little disapointed with the Daemons outcome. I feel I could have cleaned him off the board had I pressed him sooner. Tomb Kings do have all the tools moreso than any other army to deal with Daemons, providing you can control the game. Deployment is the hardest part to get correct here. We shall not speak of the Chaos Dwarf blunder... Had there not been such large terrain pieces on the board and less places to hide, Tom would have been forced into using the Bloodthirster more aggressivley, which could have been more favourable to him. Having 600 points hiding the whole game defanatly swings things in your advantage! My Tomb Kings are on the march again for Southcon. It is a 6 round 2400 point tourney with hard caps. There probably will be about 20-24 people at this one so a little smaller than normal. The big crux is all rares are 0-1 It means I need to change up my list somewhat. I wasnt happy with the return on investment the light wizard provided anyway as I found my combat units fared well enough with Nehek magic. Not being able to run dual catapults will hurt aswell, so I will be trying out a level 2 Death Liche in the Tomb Guard hoard, and a Necrosphinx. I wll be trying to focus on character assasination with the Death magic and Necroshpinx. The addition of Death magic will also give me some more options vs Ogre mournfang and other heavily armoured units as I think this is the one potential downfall of my build. They are becoming far more prevalent these days with several armys bring 3 or 4 units of 2+ or better saves -------------------- My TK Blog http://plastickrak.blogspot.co.nz/
