I have a dilema people. Was preping my Ushabti for painting using the GW skull white spray and have fudged it up. Now I want to remove it and give it another go this time with the black spray. What would be the best way to get the spray off the model?

Flash liquid (or 'simple green' in the US). Leave it to soak in the liquid over night and then give it a bit of a scrub with an old tooth brush. You may need to do this a couple of times if the paint is really thick but it's probably the best way to do it (especially on plastic minis).

You can also use things like Nitro mors or brake fluid on metal models -but these are but pretty nasty chemicals and best avoided unless you are in a mega rush.

Hope that helps mate. smile.gif

Simple Green is a game winner!

I got mine at Home Depot. I filled up a large old jar with it that sits under the sink in my bathroom. Anytime I need to strip a model I just throw it in there and let it sit overnight and run it under some water and scrub it with an old toothbrush. Sometimes it needs to soak for more than one day, sometimes less.

I've had the same jar under there for about a year now.

You mean like a counter top kitchen cleaner? Should have that lieing around somewhere. I've also heard nail varnish can work as well? And these won't damage finecast at all right?

The thing with Simple Green, is that it works on everything, metal, plastic and Finecast. Nail varnish remover is great on metal, but will eat plastic after a while, and probably the same with Finecast, I would not recommand it.

Also, primer is a lot harder to remove than straight paint. So if your Ushabti are in Finecast, better get hold of some Simple green really, and let it soak for a few days, the longer they soak in the better. And you can always soak them again after you've scrubbed them if you're not satisfied.

"Pine Sol" works in much the same way as simple green, if you're in the cleaning aisle and can't find the green stuff.

Make sure to wash your models after you scrubbed them down with the green stuff. I couldn't stand the smell on the models. It also removes any lose paint still left on the model.
