I have been given the models to make an army focussed around the Grey Knight Special character Kaldor Draigo (I think I've got his name right).

Here are the models:

user posted image

Draigo, a Librarian, two Dreadknights, ten Terminators (some unassembled) a Land Raider and a Vindicare Assassin (not pictured).

The client has given me complete freedom on the colours. Everything apart from the characters is to be done to the Horde Standard (see link in sig' for details on Standards) but with a bit of extra work on the banner and force weapons. The characters are to be painted to the Elite Standard. Also, he has requested that I paint up some makeshift servo-skulls and objective markers from the spare bits off of the sprues.

To begin with I have painted the gold bits on Draigo using a 3:1 mix of Shining Gold and Blood Red:

I'm hoping it will be! Who doesn't like an army of Terminators?

More of Draigo:

The paint looks a little thick in some areas but might just be the photos. Also maybe a couple of glazes might blend back the highlights on the cloak.

Looking good so far though, I've just finished building a GK land raider of my own to expand my army so will be keeping an eye on this thread.

Draigo's finished now:

@n1ghtl1fe: Indeed, some of the paints I have got are getting a bit old and I haven't quite watered them down enough it seems. With regards to the glaze, yes it would but I am painting to an agreed standard so it's unlikely to see any more attention I'm afraid.

A small update. I have almost finished the first five terminators:

I have also made a video tutorial with details on the colourscheme. It's in two parts as it takes a while to upload videos with my steam powered laptop sad.gif It can be found here:

Please comment to let me know what you think, especially if you have something constructive to add about the video. I want the videos to be useful and worthwhile; your feedback will help with that. If you enjoyed the video and/or found it interesting then please subscribe as it will encourage me to make more!

Whoa, that banner is ridiculously cool! Really smooth work on the lenses and armor, too.

Thank you, Capraviridae. The banner was great fun to paint.

Big update today! The Librarian is finished:

All I need to do is finish the basing and then he's done! He's received essentially the same paintjob as Draigo.

Here was all that was left yesterday (Including the Assassin that wasn't pictured first time!):

Apologies for the poor picture quality in some places.

Only a couple of finishing touches to add to Draigo and the banner now, and in the meantime it's on to the Dreadknights!

The Land Raider is a bit plainer than the rest of the minis but Ive delivered the models to the client and he is very happy, so all is well.

I'm pleased with how the army has come together; please leave a comment if you like what you see and stay tuned for a descent into Chaos...

I like the greenish-white blade on the warriors. The big mech-thing sword look a bit more simpler in comparison, wich is a shame. The rest look quite nice overall, glad to hear the customer was happy smile.gif

And that's why it's on Ebay already, he must really like it.

The term "pro painted" is so over used these days blink.gif

and to me £700 for it is way over priced. I have a similar army and if I had to sell it, it wouldn't be up for even half that.

@Mioumboy: Thanks, I really liked how the Paladin's blades came out, and yes I would quite like to have done more on the DreadKnight but never mind sad.gif

@n1ghtl1fe: Your last post seemed quite antagonistic to say the least.

"And that's why it's on Ebay already, he must really like it."

You feel as though I have misled you? If you don't believe me when I say that the client is happy then that's up to you. All I will say is that I'm not surprised that the army is on Ebay, as that's exactly what he told me he intended to do. He wanted to make some money on some old models that he no longer wanted, but didn't have the time to paint. I suggested he could commission me and he was pleased he could help me out as I was between painting jobs at the time. However I like to make a point of including only the relevant information in a painting log. This is because, in my opinion, it's not enjoyable to read through lots of needless text.
So, to reassure you, he was pleased with the work that I had done and happy to try and make a profit himself.

As for the "pro painted" comment. When I see “pro painted” somewhere I expect Golden Daemon standard and so it is a phrase that I avoid when showcasing my own miniatures; as they are simply not painted to that level. It is more accurate for me to say that I offer a professional painting service geared to what the client wants. Therefore if I’m asked not to paint model ‘x’ as well as model ‘y’, then model ‘x’ will be painted to a lower standard; which is exactly what you see in this thread. I can only assume that "pro painted" is something you’ve seen on ebay. As I have finished the work for the client I take no responsibility for what he wants to put on the listing in order to try and sell it.

With regards to the “£700”, as I’ve just mentioned, I have nothing to do with the ebay listing (short of contributing some pictures) so it is really doesn’t concern me how much it sells for. My involvement with the commission is finished.
