Within 2 weeks I will play for 2400 points in a small competition. We play the blood and glory scenario and Ireally have no clue how to play against lizardmen. What units should I take and what are the weaknesses lizardmen?

I was thinking aout the following.

Tk Gw, armour silvered steel, dragonbane gem
Necrotect, dragon helm, enchanted shield
Lv4, scroll

4x chariots
16x archers, mus+bnr
16x archers, mus+bnr
5x horsemen
25x skellies fc. Pure wizard bunker + bnr behind troops for buff spells

28x tomb guard, cham. + bnr
2x warspinx with fiery roar
4x carrions

CoS
SSC
Hierotitan

The carion and horsemen kan hunt small troops of skinks or salamanders, archers for shooting skink troops chariots for countercharge of bigger blocks or perhaps a small unit. Tomb guard and warsphinx for charging big blocks of lizards or temple guard. Maybe the necrosphinx need the cahriots for countercharge or the small block of skellies for dealing with steadfast. Irefer to not usethe skellie unit in combat.

Would i make a stand with this list?

Advise i highly appriciated.

In Blood and Glory, usually the Temple Guard + Slaan BSB/General is all you have to kill to make the breaking point. S5 flaming impact hits can help a lot.

Skirmishing skinks of all flavors will destroy you monsters. Deploy so there are no chameleons in your backfield and kill skinks with archers (chameleons first) as a priority.

Don't bother with using the casket spell on anything near the general/BSB. Cold blooded and a re-roll will help them survive.

Your necrotect has 2 magic armors (illegal).

Beware the Slann. If you wizard gets within 24" you could get becalmed and take a penalty on casting that the Heirotitan won't entirely make up.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

most lizardmen have on their herochoises "ignore armor save" magic wepons,.. so id prefer the armor of destiny on the tk...

also make it 2 x 20 archers

and maybe only 10 skellies,.. they are a bunker,.. so u dont need 25 of them,...or?

watch out for the scouts, sallys, and the Slann he usually has the power to pick a mage in 24in and say no 6's on casting soo he can hose your magic phase. you will what to make use of the killing blow spell and if you can squeeze some stalkers in there I1 on saurus and I 2 on slann and Temp guard they can do some real work against them

Stalkers! I'm also all for Caradryhel's suggestion for increasing the amount of archers to 2x20. Are the horsemen the shooty type? If so, then I think you have enough tools to deal with the skinks.

Lizardmen also have tools to completely shut down one enemy magic phase on a roll of 4+, so be prepared to run without spells for one turn. And of course they can once transfer the Slann's miscast on your hierophant.

Well a small report of the battle last night.

The blood and glory ended up in a draw (only banners could halp me score, the competition is played with a 20 points earnng system).

The lzard army had a slann lv4 (shadow), skink priest lv 2, a bsb in a unit of 36 sauris warriors, a unit with an oldblood, two saurus hero's in a 39 unit of saurus warriors, 12 skink skirmishers, 2 salamanders, 2 razordon's. I deployed first, and was ready for a big cc battle with some heavy magic (lv4 nehek, lv4 death, hierotitan, casket) unfortunualy no purple sun for me. His setup was only for a draw, he put his unit with slann, priest, bsb and saurus warriors in a tower on the totaly other side of the table. And in front of that hisother saurus uit. Stupid of him because he had to attack my tomb guard with general to win blood and glory.

I only had my chariots, carrion and one bowunit on that side. My warsphinx, tomb guard and bows with death priest on the other side (in between a impassale terrain piece, every unit wihin 3 inch is frienzied).

I did'nt take the signature movement spell of nehek because i thought he would come to combat anyhow. It was hard but my tomb guard and warsphins where just abble to get in range of the saurusunit. Before this I lost my chariots to his saurus unit first, i only managed to kill his salamanders with my carrions. The chariots failed the charge got blown away by magic and skink blow pipes. I could not win the match because the tower was to far away. I could only lose if i try to fight in close combat, but doing nothing with the only goal a draw is not my way of a fun battle. So I just go for the charge. Because of soulbligh and the extra nehek attack rule and frienzy ruleof the building and a combo charge of the warsphinx i won combat and the flee 9", couldn't manage to get them throwing 2" and 6". But ot his banner. Only hoping that in the last turn he would blow up his slann could give me the win (almost happenend).

In the end it wasn't a nice battle to play, must say the player was really scared of the army and very unexperienced. The only good thing was that he stayed on the last place of the tournament, I am second last now :-(

But thanks for all the tips, next battle is against deamons, with also a not so very experienced doubting player. So i will be posting a new thread for some help.

That's annoying you didn't get purple sun and doubly annoying that he just hid in a building. Wise but annoying nonetheless.

On Daemons if you're tailoring your list then certainly swap out death for light and don't forget about burning gaze on the Hierotitan for 2D6 magic missile goodness. wink.gif

Also, I think there was a thread in the Tactics about TK against Demons, so you'll hopefully get good tips from there, too. Good luck with the incoming battles!
