Hey everyone,
I will be going to my first tournament next weekend. It's just a small local tourney, 16 players, 3 games. There is no comp. The tables will be pre-setup with terrain, with random draw for table, scenario (all are possible, played as written in the book), and opponent. Anyways, here is the list I put together. Hierophant, lvl 4, Power Stone Level 4, Light, Wand of Jet Tomb Prince, Armor of Destiny 6 Skeleton Chariots, Champ and Standard 5 Horse Archers 5 Horse Archers 20 Skeleton Archers, Mus 29 TG w/Halberds, Std and Champ 3 Necro Knights, full cmd Warsphinx, Fiery Roar Hierotitan Casket of Souls Screaming Skull Catapult Total: 2499 Hierophant and Prince in with the Tomb Guard, other Priest in the archers. Any thoughts on Light Priest vs Death Priest with this particular list? This is my first competitive event, so feel free to offer any suggestions. I don't have a ton of additional models painted (and I don't want to take anything unpainted), so any major changes would have to be something I could get painted up in a week. Small tweaks shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your help. |

I would drop the level 4 light down to level 2, and swap the wand for a dispel scroll. With the extra points saved, you can give your tomb prince a great weapon, and a another catapult to your list...
that great weapon and catapult is far more likely to get back its 100pts than an additional 2 levels (you only have so many power dice, and the winds of magic are fickle). |

Death is most effective when you also have a king for L10 death snipes.
I think the necro knights are too small to be effective. Maybe drop musi+champ and entomb them? riskier but less chance of them getting blow off the board turns 1 and 2. |

The problem with dropping the level 4 light to a level 2 is the possibility of missing the very good spells.
Entombing the Knights might be a good idea. I have 3 more I could add to the unit, I would just need to get them painted up. If so, though, what would I drop? The Sphinx? |

I feel that any list with TG needs proper shooting support. Squeeze in 20 more archers and drop those knights. Get the TG to at least 35 (with 39 being the sweet spot).
I'd run Death over Light in this list so you have something that can deal with heavily armored foes. The TG are rather slow so they can't be where you want to be at all times and the enemy might outdeploy you and keep his best units away from them. |
