Hi all,
So I've played a couple of 1000pt games, but I've now expanded to 2000pts ready for a campaign starting at my local club this Wednesday. I was hoping to get some advice on the list I've come up with. I don't really have many other models (an extra TP and LP as well as some unassembled warriors and horsemen...) so I'm mainly looking for advice on my character set up. Without further ado, here's the list: Lords: Tomb King, Great Weapon, Armour of the Ages, Crown of Kings, Vambraces of the Sun. 266 Heroes: Tomb Prince, Flail, Chariot, Collar of Shapesh, Chariot of Fire. 197 Liche Priest (Hierophant), Cloak of the Dunes, Hieratic Jar. 160 Liche Priest, Skeletal Steed, Staff of Ravening. 168 Core: 20 Skeleton Warriors, Standard. 170 20 Skeleton Warriors, Standard. 170 6 Skeleton Light Horsemen. 84 3 Chariots, Standard, Banner of the Undying Legion. 165 Special: 3 Ushabti. 195 5 Carrion. 120 Tomb Scorpion. 85 Rare: Bone Giant. 220 Total: 2000 Incantations: 5 + Jar + 2 Bound Dispel Dice: 4 So the main thing I'm worried about is the lack of dispel scrolls and the Golden Eye on the chariot Prince. I wanted him to have the Brooch, but he can't have that and the Chariot of Fire. I figured that the Chariot of Fire was more useful since I would be trying to take out wizards pretty quick? If I got rid of the Golden Eye I and the King's Vambraces of the Sun I could give the King the Brooch and take an Enchanted Shield on the Prince instead. Would that be better? I think that would leave me enough points to get light armour for the Prince too. So, what do people think? Is the list a bit hopeless, or will it be OK? And what should I do about the characters? Also, any general pointers on things to look out for/sneaky things I can do would be great!! Cheers, Dave P.S. I haven't played TK's much, but I've been playing Warhammer for many, many years. Just incase people want to know my level before giving feedback..? -------------------- |

You could use the Collar of Shapesh on the Prince for some protection. The other items are fine. I personally love the Crown of Kings, it really help for a better magic phase
And since you're most likely to put the King in a Warriors unit, you can drop one skellie, thus having point for light armour on the Prince and still be bellow 2000pts You could try to switch the banner on the Chariots for the Icon of Sacred Eye, it's just wonderfull on Chariots unit! Unless you're facing a lot of firepower, you shouldn't get much damage before getting in close combat, and provided you get the charge, you probably won't get much damage there either The Brooch could be good too, depending on what enemy you face. So if you think you need a bit more defense in magic, try to fit the Brooch on the King by taking off the Vambrace, or drop the Jar on the Hierophant for a scroll, or both. Other that that, your list seems pretty good, nice solid center forces and good flank units. Be carfull with Ushabti though, they aren't as resilient as they seems, they can get killed quite easily actually. -------------------- |

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. At my club there are currently a lot of Daemon and VC armies kicking around (shock horror!!), which is why I was wanting a dispel scroll or two. Against VC's I plan on shooting up units as much as possible to force him to keep healing his units back to full strength instead of moving stuff around. Against Daemons I plan to try to shoot enough models off each unit to loose them a rank before I close ranks and get ready for combat!! There's also High Elves, Dark Elves, Empire, WoC and Ogres (off the top of my head) so I need to be ready for anything. I like the Collar idea, don't know why I didn't think of it!! Combined with the BotUL would make the Prince quite durable methinks? I did think about dropping the Jar for a scroll. Do you think I'd loose much by taking the Jar out? I'm feeling the scroll could be better just now. I might drop a skeleton from each unit since the hierophant will start in one too, giving me some extra points to play around with. So, to sum up changes: Take out the Golden Eye Take out the Jar Take out a skeleton from each unit Put in the Collar on the Prince Put in a dispel scroll on the Hierophant Put in light armour on the Prince Think that leaves me with some points to play around with, but I don't have the book handy. What do people think of the changes? Cheers, Dave -------------------- |

Not a bad list. For your character setup I would keep the Jar and drop the SoR for 2 scrolls. I think the staff is a bit overrated and that you often put your lich in a bad situation in an attempt for the staff to get its points back.
A flail is vastly superior to the spear for the Prince. Losing 1 to your armor save is nothing compared to an extra +1S on the charge(or if you end up getting charged somehow) The collar is a good item and should be more than enough defense. Rest looks pretty good. I have never been a fan of the light cav but if they work for you then go for it. I know you don't have much modelwise to work with but if you can in the future I would recommend dropping the light cav and trying out the SSC. It is the mvp unit of the army in my eyes. |

Hi all,
So I'm looking to increase the army up to 2250pts and was wondering what to get. So far, I am thinking: Another Tomb Scorpion. 85pts Extra Ushabti. 65pts 2 Tomb Swarms. 90pts That leaves 10pts to get some armour and such for the King and Prince. What do people think? Cheers, Dave -------------------- |

Catapult, extra ushabti and a scorp. Gives you extra punch and also more power in your shooting phase while at the same time keeping within the theme of the list. The SSc is invalueble with all star dragons and BTs out there... or indeed any monster(DE hydra comes to mind).

Thanks for the reply. Loking at the list, i could take out a light horseman to add in the SSC with Skulls of the Foe. Then add the scorpion and ushabti. Think I could still sneak in light armour and shield on the prince too.
