Hey my fellow Kings and Queens I have had some major problems killing lizard men armys. They have high toughness, decent armor saves, larger units, a spell they always seem to get that makes my archers reroll 6s, and poisioned skrimished scouts to kill my SSCs and CoS... Any ideas/recomendations?

Lizzies are my most fought opponents. Granted i am more skilled than my opponent, i can offer a little bit o help.

Khalida helps tons. The auto wound helps one what we would normally need double 5's. when you can autosmite with a unit of 40, that gives ya 30 shots in horde formation and funtime.

Chammys suck but we do have the advantage of being easily able to hit them. Catapult or chariot archers(so you arent wasting shots) to sweep em up. Speaking of chariots charge them with em, they'll mop em up quite nicely.

the spell seems to be the 3rd spell, a hex from the lore of heavens. Thats what runs on all of their skink priests. You have to try to dispell this one at all costs as i dont find too much else from that school to be really harmful. Usually i take that out and just have to deal with the slann kicking the crap out of some unit with various Light missiles.

Slann's love the catapult. no matter what they do ethereal or not a direct hit on the slann can kill. their only protection they really have is a 30 point item which makes their ranged ward save a 2+. Most peeps go ethereal and are fine. magic flaming skull FTW. Dont take skulls of the foe; cold blooded kicked the crap outta that.

If using khalida, remember she has the badass stick of badassery that can keep whatever is about to pounce on you from moving. from there you have that magic phase, and your next turn to get in position.

Skinks love to be shot, plain and simple. Hit on 5's wound on 3's.
Saurus warriors will have to be flanked to win. Using scorp king with spear and collar
with TG as anvil, you will be pretty even in combat but outnumbered by attacks. Any sort of flanking help works wonders. Ushabti or rear scorp corps are lovely.

occasionally Salamanders can be pretty painful if they get to close. another archerbait that can go down easily. they only have a 5+ save and they tend to take wounds due to the monster and handlers rules.

Steggies suck specially if you get charged by a chief on one with the lance that effs yo chit. another Catapult bait.

Thank you so much for the help, one of my dilemas is we can currently only play low point games. (he just recently got into Lizardmen so we can run 1000-1200 point games) I hadnt thought of how awsome Khalida would be against them though. One big problem I forsee is getting my catapults shot to death by chamelion skinks. The fact that his warmachine hunters have poisoned shots kinda sucks. Also do you know if the casket of souls is a good take against them? they dont have great leadership but usualy thats not a problem for them as they are cold blooded, but the casket isnt a leadership test. Thanks again for all the help!

The casket doesn't force the lizzy's to roll leadership tests so they gain no benefit from being cold-blooded.

So it can be quite effective against small units outside the slann's leadership bubble. But as always count on the casket to draw out dispell dice, not to do damage smile.gif

My biggest problem with the Lizardmen is when they finaly get into CC, do you know of a unit that has stood up well to a saurus assult?

Looking at the list I dont think you have enough punch to do much damage to the lizards. I would run more archers (but then again I love shooting people) I am concerned that he is going to march a stegadon into your archer block then walk right up to the casket and it will be game over. I know the lizard player I play against has decided the best option is to just ignore my Tomb Guard block and go after my archers, as I keep my priests in the archer block they die and its leadership tests for the rest of the game.

Lizards are a bad matchup for TK, so much of their magic gets free bonuses vs. undead. Stegadons and Carnosaurs require luck with your catapults or they crush you.

Saurus are hard to beat, only silver lining is that they're one of the few things out there we can go before in combat - so the old suicide scorpion trick can still take out their characters, and a good tarpit can hold them down while you go do other useful things instead.

I've not had a problem with skinks. Sure, their poison is bad for scorpions, catapults, and caskets - but they're also one of the few things out there our chariots can still run down. So set your chariots on a skink-hunting mission.

you do realize this was posted back when the old AB was up so it wasnt a leadership test then.
