I don't mind how they presented the new book in terms of the story, but when regarding the last edition's fluff, I can't help but miss certain elements.

Personally I loved the last book and how the story was told from the point of view of a desert-guide. The Lovecraftian elements were pretty sweet, and the ending page showing how the man was killed in a scythe trap kind of struck me.

And where is the mention of the Numas?

I mostly missed a small segment about the gods. Ok, they talk about the gods here and there, but they could have easily devoted a page to it. Having said that, I also missed some background for some cities. Thirdly, I wonder what happened to Sehenesmet (who is supposed to be unmatched when it comes to making rebuilding statues and such), King Phar (the Mahrak one) and Prince Tutankhanut. Sehenesmet vs. Ramhotep... who would be a better necrotect?

No contest... ramhotep is amazing boost... sehenesmet infused himself into on the great stone beasts he made to agument his physical form above normal capabilties (bone giant or sphinx? giving regen to constructs and giving itself hatred...)

I honestly do not know who would win. Sehenesmet is unmatched in caring for the statues, even to the point where he refined his incantations so that he can animate and control a great many of those constructs at any given time, whereas Ramhotep was perhaps the greatest Necrotect and "his craftsmanship was second to none." Of course, there's a chance he gave Sehenesmet the same treatment as he gave Ramakat the Creative or Emrah the Artisan: working under him but doing all the work.

Anyway, I think that Ramhotep is a better artisan and better at restoring constructs to their original form, whereas Sehenesmet is better at animating and controlling the constructs. Both are experts in a different aspect of being Necrotect, I'd say. I wish GW would clear this up a bit though.

On a sidenote, imagine when Ramhotep would back up Sehenesmet; the two of them would be very lethal indeed. It's a shame I don't have the 6th edition rules for Sehenesmet (which were posted on the Australian GW site back in the day) here right now sad.gif

Edit: actually, I found the .pdf file of those rules. *press here for the .pdf file*.

I would have liked to have seen a little more dark mystery and a little less subdued arrogance. Yes, they are the Tomb Kings and have a ton of gold, but I feel that the grandiose magnificence of the army takes away from the sinister, morbid aspect of the TK.

The Barrow Kings! I would have loved to hear more about those buried kings and pricnes throughout the Old World, That was a really, really cool idea.

Ahh, you mean the even more ancient people and constructs in the old burial mounds? I second that. It was a cool element and it was a shame to see it go.
