We are currently looking for experienced typesetter and karaoker for an upcoming project. If you think you can do the job, please let us know. Your only requirement is YOU HAVE TO BE BETTER THAN ME! Hehe… But don't worry, I'm kinda suck.
I have been thoroughly enjoying your subs for a while now, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge in particular.
I have no experience with typesetting or Karaoking, but I'm a fast learner with an amazing amount of free time. I also like to think I have a fair sense of style. If you can point me at the program(s) I'd need to use, I'll turn something out and you guys can make up your minds after that.

http://doom9.org/ is the god of all things audio/visual, I suggest you start there.

Looks like they have the DNS entered weirdly, since they have to have the www for the link to work
I've been fiddleing with Subtitle Workshop. (Well, I downloaded it and looked at the help file before I had to run and look after my grandfather ) It looks like a decent place to start too.

Typically with anime we use an extension of Vobsub known as TextSub, this filter takes formats such as
Which allow us to embed tags into our lines, for example:
CODE
{\move(200,200)}MyLine
This tells the subtitle engine to render the line at (200,200) on the screen.
There are various programs that can edit these files:
Sub-Station Alpha
Medusa
AegiSub
Sabbu
This is a small list of the more popular apps, some of which let you load up your video and see the output of your lines live, additionally some let you drag and drop start/stop times right on the waveform.

Wahh!! Too bad I don't know how to do any of that! If someone could teach me, then I will help you guys out! If someone could teach me how to do that kind of stuff, and etc…then yeah, I'd love to help. But I'm useless!

Sorry, I can't help.
I had a mentor some many years ago, the best way to learn is either force yourself into it, or fly under the wing of an established Typeset, you learn all sorts of neat tricks.
Although I will say, Typesetting isn't always as simple as what program to use and what to type. You really have to understand a lot about videos and how they're made, etc...
All i can say is: Get studying =D

A good test project you could do is grab a serious anime's raw and do a parody (no translation skills required.) of the ep. It's funny and you'll learn a lot of things.

Yo~ i'm not a very talkative person, and kinda hate forums, but i think this group doesn't have an irc recruiting chan, so, can't be helped.
i'm kinda intersted on the job. I know the oldschool typesetting "*.ASS", kinda hate it though, too boring. i preffer to do the signs on afx. i don't like to do karaokes, since i'm a fucking lazy ass, and karaokes takes too much time and imagination , the 2nd one is what i don't have.
signs and logos are easier, that's why i stick to 'em.
errr
As long the show ain't be a Bishie or a comedy show, i'll take it.
the reason is. for bishies, i hate that kind of animation, "i hate yamanade" is major FAIL.
and comedys, they tend to be hard to TS'em since they could have the same sign appearing 2 or 3 times in the same scene, that means those shows tend to have 35+ signs per episode....
i like the emotional content, hence, Romeoxjuliet or Lamune, things like that with that kind of animation....
As long the show ain't be a Bishie or a comedy show, i'll take it.
.... Snipped for clarity ....
i hate Yuri/Yaoi/Shoujo AI/Shounen AI
You do realize you're applying to a fansub group run by two girls who's 1st project was Princess Princess (from what i remember a show about an all guy school where the prettiest guys dressed up as girls so everyone else felt like they were in a bi-gender school.)
And currently have TWO comedy shows as thier main 2 projects? (Sorta)
:D
As for .ass vs afx i feel ya, i prefer afx myself.

Ok, I haven't forgotten about this but life went all explodey on me again.
Just so you don't think I'm a complete screw up, my brother was in a motorcycle accident on the 26th, on the 28th my grandfather was given "about another three days" untill he dies (he's 96, we've seen it comming since my grandmother passed). He's still with us, but could go any time. My father had to have an emergency operation on his posterior for some infected boil thing, and my mother's Relapsing/Remitting Multiple Sclorosis seemd to be on the edge of a relapse.
So, not my life specifically, but I've been taking care of the sick and dieing for the past week. Once things settle down again, I'd love to take a swing at subbing something for you all, but I don't know how long it'll be until I have time to learn it.
