Yes, yet another one of these list topics, lol! If you haven't already, go check out the "Which anime are you currently watching" sticky thread to get a better idea of the kind of posting I want to see here ^.~! So preferrably, no pontless lists ppl, kay~

Well, I'm not really all that up with new manga myself, but thanks to bizen's suggestion, I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread where we can talk about current manga - maybe I can pick up a few suggestions from you guys too, lol! Of course, this is just a starting point where we can get to know what everyone else is interested in and get some ideas, so feel free to start series-specific threads if you want to ^^

Personally, I'm out of the scanlation loop, since I'm not that much of a fan of reading manga on the pc screen >.<. That being the case, I don't have a lot of scanlated manga on my comp (except for *ahem* BL, but we won't go there, lol!). Most of the manga I read is store bought, so I'm collecting a few series in the original Jap, and a few licensed shoujo titles - I wish they'd release the licensed manga faster though...

What I'm currently up to date with:

Angel Sanctuary: Yes, I know it's old, but I haven't read it, except for the licensed volumes. It's supposed to be an excellent manga, but I find it a bit hard to stay really interested at times. It kind of feels like it's trying to pump in too much information but then doesn't really go into much further character development. Maybe I'm missing the point... I'm not altogether sure, but I'll stick with it to the end since I've come this far. Of course the art is beautiful, so there's one good reason to check it out.

Fruits Basket: Lol, like many, I've read a mix of licensed volumes (which I'm up to date with), as well as scanlations, since fruba is just too addictive to wait for, lol! I've read up to vol18 so far and I must say, the fruba manga is far superior to the anime. Such a lovely narrative style, and wonderfully developed characters which always leave you feeling full. For anyone who can take shoujo, it's honestly a wonderfully satisfying read. Funny and heartfelt, I'm sure it will be a classic for years to come.

Peacemaker Kurogane: Ok, I just love Nanae Chrono. As anyone who has ever talked with me about manga will know, lol, I adore her. For me, her art style is the nicest I've come across (this is a matter of personal taste of course) *hugs chrono sensei art book*. In my Nanae obsession, I've collected the Shinsengumi Imon Peacemaker (the original gan-gan release and the mag-garden re-release, lol - fanatic!), and Peacemaker Kurogane manga both in the original Japanese, as well as the English released volumes. I totally reccoment the PMK manga to anyone who enjoyed the anime series. It's a shame that they didn't continue on with the anime to follow the developments in the manga, as I think the developments between Suzu and Tetsu are well worth exploring, as well as the split and defection of some Shinsengumi members which is quite emotional, not to mention everything which happens with Ryoma Sakamoto and his band of revolutionaries. Be forewarned though, Chrono sensei is no longer continuing with this series after volume5. It does become quite an emotionally taxing story, so I can understand why T_T

Finished reading:

Hana Kimi: Yes, I'm a girly girl! Actually, I'm baffled as to why this series wasn't made into an anime. It's funny and warm - kind of in the vein of Ouran Highschool Host club. Since Ouran is so popular, I'm sure and anime of the much beloved Hana Kimi would go down well too. Lol, I actually cried when I read the last chapter of this manga because I couldn't believe it was over - I enjoyed it that much! The characters, like fruba, are very well developed, and by the end you have a warm close attachment with almost all of them; it's like saying goodbye to old friends. Hisaya Nakajo is also an incredible artist and I adore her work almost as much as I adore Chrono Sensei's (like Chrono, her BL doujin's are also awesome, LOL!). Again, this is a series mostly for shoujo fans, but for those who haven't read it, I strongly, strongly suggest you give it a go. *sigh*

I don't have much to say about manga.. maybe only that I'm not interested in it due to some reasons :

a ) Manga = spoilers, at least when we're talking about anime shows. Usually, maga is A LOT further in the story than series, and that makes watching anime pretty boring. I say that from my personal experience, as once I spoiled some great series and promised not do that again.
b ) Manga as a 'journal' is a very nice thing, but manga on PC is evil... It's a lot nicer to read manga in bed or during breaks, but PC manga makes you stick to one place. As same as anime series themselves, only series don't have any alternatives.
c ) Manga is mostly a lot better than the series, so reading manga usually makes me dissatisfied with the show.

Maybe I should develop that feeling, that "I want to see the thing I read about as a movie" feeling, but I don't think I'll change my way of thinking soon.

Peacemaker's fantastic^^
I'm reading Gunslinger Girl currently. A good plot and character design. A moving story. I hope that they can release another season of the anime. I liked it so much. Manga's still on going.

Isn't Peacemaker awesome, lol! Hey Evi, if you haven't read up to vol5 yet they have it at Kinokuniya in town... and they still have one copy of her art book left (though I nearly bought it for myself just in case my first copy gets ruined from me looking at it too much...). Aaaw, Tetsu grows up to be so sexy!!! - it's hard to believe he's the same kid from SIP!

Ok, I'll crawl back in to my hole of PMK obsession now....

Currently following both the Bleach and Naruto mangas, since the shows are pretty much dead (fillers ftw ;E) and the manga is the one good thing left, there is no lack of action and a good story here, unlike both the animes atm.
And I started reading the Air Gear manga after seeing the first episode of the anime, which quite interested me.

cool some one who like P.M.K. I like it to but there are so dam hard to get were I live.

and I personally don't like scan, so I wont go on the net for the chapter I don't have.

My favorite serie so far is École du Ciel(yes the title is in French.) it's a sojo about gundam the story is good and there is no Gundam... but there is a lot of Mobile suit fight in it.it's also the only series of gundam were the main character is a girl.

I dislike reading to much on pc and I live in Belgium aka The land WHERE NONE WANTS TO LISCINCE ONE GODAMN ANIME OR MANGA THAT'S NOT POKEMON OR DBZ em026.gif

So I can order from Archonia but I rarely get to that so I almost read nothing alltough I really want to. I have read some stuff like akira but I momenterally I only read the kenshin manga as I am a big fan of the show and had never read the manga before

I've tried to read downloaded manga serveral times but i just don't like to read it from the screen em031.gif also, there are lots places where I'd like to enjoy reading manga more then before my computer screen: like on the beach or when I'm traveling. With that in mind I bought my first manga about 2 months ago.

I mostly buy manga's from anime's I've seen because I read that the story is better in the manga, the manga story is longer than the anime or because the anime ended with a cliffhanger. I'm also still searching for a good series that is only available as a manga, but for know I got enough anime series where I want to read the manga of.

Currently reading:
Tenjou Tenge:
The anime wasn't ALL that great but I still want to know how the story ends em014.gif and the anime series stopped somewere in the middle I guess em031.gif I just read vol.4 and it's exactly the same as the anime. I looked though the released volumes in the manga store and it seems that they pick up where the anime anded at vol. 9 :/

Hellsing:
Hellsing was one of the fist anime series I saw (exept for DBZ em013.gif ) and back then I really thought it was great. But after watching a few more series it wasn't that great anymore. Some time later I read on some forum that the manga was much better so I downloaded it. But since I don't like to read manga from my screen I decided to buy it. I just finished reading vol. 3 and the story is really great ^^

I know it's a bit old already but I watched the anime version of Saikano last week. I was very moved by the story and the charakters. Watching the anime just wasn't enough so I orderd all the manga volumes 2 ^^ I hope it's a bit more detailed than the anime ^^ In 2 weeks i'll know more ;)

"Wishlist":
Mai Hime:
Mai Hime is one of my favorite anime series. It may seem like a casual shounen series at first but it got lots of twists and moving parts. Especially after episode 18 ^^ I read that in the manga the story and setting is different so I'm hoping for another great story. The official U.S. release is in November. Looking forward to it ^^

Elfen Lied:
Elfen Lied is another one from the list of my favorite animes but ended just like tenjou tenge with many questions to be awnsered. But I still don't know of any planned english release.. em013.gif

Non Anime manga
I'd also like to read some manga's that aren't related to anime series but for know Tenjou tenge, Hellsing, Saikano and Mai Hime go first ;)

I recently finished reading Inu Neko Jump and am now going through the Azumanga Daioh Manga. Inu Neko Jump has a lot of moments that really take your breath away. I'm planning on starting to read the Video Girl Ai one soon too. I really enjoyed both the Azumanga Daioh and Video Girl Ai animes.

Kaworu I haven't watched the anime of Video Girl, but the manga gets really boring after a while. The beginning is great, but after 3 volumes, it goes downhill. In my opinion.

Hmm, I had tried this a while ago, I guess I'll give it another shot.

Trigun/Trigun Maximum- The first 2 before Maximum are good but a little sloppy. There's a lot going on in every frame and sometimes it's kind of hard to follow but the story is good and it's worth the read. Maybe it's me but I thought Maximum was a lot easier to follow even though it's technically the same story line. It gets pretty deep and I'm happy I've stuck with it. The story is excellent. One of the few manga's I like better than the anime.

No Need for Tenchi- Good if you like Tenchi, feels a little bit scattered at times, but not as bad as....

Oh! My Goddess-Almost like a collection of short stories, there doesn't seem to be much of a "flow" to any of it. It's only worth looking into if you're a fan of the series'

Bleach-It's on par with the anime right now to me since it has a lot less filler. If you like the anime I think you'll like the manga.

Cowboy Bebop:Shooting Star-Don't bother. It's a good story, moves along well, until it gets canceled at the end of the second novel with NO resolution whatsoever.

Ravenskull-I only have the first issue. Meh, it was okay. Something to look into if you like medevil stuff but nothing convincing to me either way yet. The book and layout is really nice though(what prompted me to buy it).
