Well, I did it.

I jumped from nonfiction to fiction with my first short story, Simbar: Freed Slave; Witness to WWII

The story introduces Simbar as a slave in southeastern North Carolina during the American Civil War (War Between the States if you live in the south). He is freed by Union soldiers.

In the series, part two will be about his life after he is freed. He joins the Union Army and then, after the war, returns to the south to live out his life. He was born around 1839 and died in 1940.
