Good Evening, Mechanical Maniacs. Allow me to introduce myself - I am Dr. CKeen. You may not have heard of me, but soon the world will know my name...
Over the years, you have been hailed as the greatest robot designers in the world, while my robotic creations have been totally ignored. I cannot allow this to continue. The world must be made aware of my genius!
From my Italian citadel, I've sent twelve of my most powerful robots called the Constellation Droids to destroy that titanium troublemaker, Mechanical Maniac. Once they have obliterated him, I will place his broken body on display for the entire world to see. Only then will I be allowed to take my place as the greatest robot designer of all time!

Hello there. I'm opening this thread in this forum (hopefully it's not the wrong section, I apologize in case it is) since this site seems to be the one that is most interested in obscure mega man stuff and games.
So, I was reading the mechanical maniacs page about Rockman Strategy, so that I could get to know the game a bit more. I found the premise behind the game to be very interesting, and the concept art seemed pretty nice, too. Being a fanatic of the Classic and X series of Mega Man, this one seemed like a must have for me.
However, I found out it's only in chinese, and since there's apparently some "rpg/adventure" stuff going on in the game, I'd probably have no luck playing it with gibberish text or chinese since I don't understand it.
But, while reading the page, I found out that apparently, the game doesn't use compression of any kind for some of its game files, such as graphics and the game script itself. From what the article said, this means the whole game CAN be translated into english with little if any cracking going on.
Of course, this immediately interested me, since I *do* know of someone who has studied chinese and is a fan of videogames, with mega man among them. So I contacted him, and asked him if he wanted to give it a try in his free time, and he accepted.
Both of us managed to get a copy of the game (two CDs). He installed the game, and saw he was able to get access to all pictures and the game script, and by translating the game script and the pictures the game would pretty much turn into english.
However... there is one problem. The game does not start up for him. I believe this is because he is using Windows Vista which AFAIK is not very nice on older windows programs. I'm using XP and I still have to install the game (I'll do this very soon though). Does anyone know if there is any way to get this thing working under Vista?
If this translation will indeed happen (only a few lines have been translated so far), it will most likely also increase the polish of the game a bit. For example, the grenade man-burst man confusion will be fixed, and rockman/blues etc are going to be called by their english names mega man and proto man. This should hopefully make it look even more like an official Capcom product (because it actually is).
Thanks for your attention. Let me know if you'd like to help out somehow.
Running on Vista--I'm hardly a computer expert, but maybe DOS Box will help?
Sadly, it doesn't run on systems past XP. Not even on virtual machine! It just can't be done.
I'm very glad my article inspired you to work on translating the game! That's what I hoped would happen when I posted all those files. I have a feeling the game might actually be fun when you can actually understand what people are saying as well as menu options.
Thanks for your support :)
I've installed the game today. After some trouble with figuring out why it didn't work (turned out I needed to use cd 2, heh), I got it to launch. But there are a few problems. I was wondering if someone else here already encountered them and could provide me with a way to get rid of them.
There is no sounds at all.
My computer reboots every time I quit the game or alt-tab to the desktop.
The last problem is unbelievably annoying. I even tried with windows 98 compatibility, but no luck. Any ideas?
Also, I *might* be able to get some english translation screenshots up this weekend.
Uninstall and re-install? Sorry, I can't help you very much on these problems. I don't even know what system you're running on.
On my own machine, when I had XP, it ran with no sounds and I just dealt with it. Can't remember if I installed it or if I just copied the files over from another installation (which might cause the problem). On another it had sounds.
Didn't crash my PC, however. Maybe it's becasue you're running it in compatibility mode. Maybe it also has to do with your monitor's color settings.
