I know, old news, but rather intresting. I liked Megaman X2 to be honest. Megaman ZX Advent Was okay in my opinion. I own Megaman II GB and I thought that was so-so in my opinion. Zero games I never openly played, so I can't throw my two cents in. -------------------- Fancy a trip to Kingdom Of Neo Arcadia? We have crabs!

I personally resent this statement in the article:
"Advent isn’t a horrible game. But it does nothing to go beyond being mediocre. Besides that, I feel like the ZX series was little more than a haven for die hard Mega Man X fans who weren’t going to join the Battle Network/Star Force crowd, so they took what they could get." The hell? Nothing is a haven for die hard Mega Man X fans other that MEGA MAN X. ZX and Zero series might have their strong points, but no one can tell me they satisfy true X fans. In any case, Command Mission was our fan service. And so is Zero in TvsC. But I'm still waiting for X9. Anything else is shovelware, IMO. Ahem... going back to the topic at hand. Yeah. I pretty much think Mega Man 2 is the only exception to the rule. The bits I played of BN2 didn't really impress me enough to keep playing the series. And although X2 has its share of kickass moments, doesn't rank anywhere near the top of my favorite X games. Perhaps Legends fans could attest for Legends 2? I think that one was ignored in the article. All I know about Legends is that I love Tron and her servebots. -------------------- |

I'd agree with MMIIGB being awful compared to all the other GB MM games, but that's about it. I can't speak for Starforce since I have yet to touch any of those titles. ZXA I actually like better than the original, and I agree with Naop on the response to the reviewers comments. I really like X2 and as far as overall enjoyability I'd say it beats X3, X6, and X7 (from what little I've played of it). However I can't completely disagree with the reviewer in that it's not better than X1, but that's just being unfair. X1 is one of my most favourite games of all time, and it's the one SNES X game I actually own so I've played it more than any other. I've only played X2 a few times. but I'm always pining to play it again. I like them both too much for different reasons.
I'd say MML2 fits into the category of a great improvement over the original. EXE2 may be good, but I actually like EXE1 better for various reasons (mainly due to the fact VI is based around it). And for all it's faults, at least the PC games dodged the bullet here by skipping #2 and going right to #3. -------------------- |

Mega Man X2 is my favourite of the X Series. I'm not really sure why- there's nothing exceedingly different about it compared to the others. I just enjoyed it more. And I have to disagree with the author of the article, it had amazing music. I actually find Mega Man X1 to be exceedingly boring compared to its sequels... it just felt like in order to introduce new mechanics like the wall climb and the dash, they had to make everything easier. Chill Penguin? That battle practically puts me to sleep. X1 isn't my least favourite of the series (how could it be when X6 was made?!) but I would never rank it higher than X2 for any aspect of the game.
Now as for the others... I have to say I haven't played many of them. But BN2 was quite phenomenal- I'd rank it higher than BN1 if only because BN1 was so short and SO EASY I'd beaten it 3 days after I started playing it, and BN2 had so much extra content it took me quite a few weeks to play through it all (it also had a steepened difficulty, especially during the extra missions you can only do after beating the final boss). I can't see anyone not liking BN2 except, as Naop did, because they were sick of the series, but that's not really an individual game's fault. I don't think I played Legends 2, but most people I talked to said it was good. I think the reason it's not widely regarded is because it was more obscure than most Mega Man games... I've never even seen it for sale! Zero, ZX, Starforce, and all those wacky spin-offs I haven't even played the first of, let alone the sequel. So I can't comment. MMIIGB was quite awful, but then again, were any of the GB games besides V really that good? Xtreme and Xtreme 2 were terrible, and the whole concept of just using the same level designs and bosses but in a bastardized format just seemed a little hoaxy to me. Honestly, out of the not-a-remake games that have the 2 title, my least favourite is probably Mega Man 2. The difficulty was just too steep to be truly enjoyable (that turret boss that you literally CAN'T make a mistake on?) and while I admit it was drastically different from the original Mega Man, I still find that it shared Mega Man 1's feeling of being more of a labour to play than a joy. It really was at 3 that I find the games became less of an exercise in precision and more of a game in the true meaning of the word. But this is just an opinion on a game. -------------------- |

Don't get me wrong. I had faith in the BN series. I played 1 and liked it very much. After Legends, I actually liked the fact that they were going back to the original robot master designs and remaking them. The concept as whole was appealing to me.
But when sequels started coming out faster than I was able to keep up with them at the time, I lost interest (and faith). By the time I got around to playing 2, they were already releasing 5, I think. So I never got to finish it, since it seemed more like a chore to have to catch up with the annual sequels. All I was saying is that maybe if 2 had been really innovative or a tangible improvement, I might have had the will to continue playing the series. But I don't recall anything that really got me exited like the first one did. Perhaps it's because, like Top says, I didn't get to see those extra mission. =P -------------------- |

The one thing that always bugged me about X2 is the music. The original had a kick-ass metal soundtrack, but X2's was medicore at best. Seriously, what the hell?

I thought X-2 was pretty good, and the fact that it actually made you work for the "Good" ending in a harder way than just revisiting stages 'till you found what you needed was a nice touch.
That said, I look at it through very Baised eyes. I never finished Battle Network 2. My copy bricked. But it was fairly fun while it lasted. I liked Zero 2. I thought ZX Advent was made of kickass and awesome. I reccomend Legends 2 to anyone looking for a PS1 game to play. -------------------- ![]() |

I liked Megaman IV for the GB as well. V was great. III and Wily's Revenge are... so-so in my opinion. I've never played a Legend's game in my life, but I want to, if I can find a legit copy. -------------------- Fancy a trip to Kingdom Of Neo Arcadia? We have crabs!
