how do i add pictures at the bottom?

im new to computers at home. i've only ever used them at work and not really been on the internet before so i was wondering if someone could help show me how to get those pictures at the end of each post you make? (sorry dont know the term for them) and also those pictures to the side?

howdy mjf! ummmm... hehehehe. i would help if i could...ilmjn, mjn, im2, tkay, hetane,neeps, everyone else - they are the experts - this calls for teamwork! all i know is that the little photo by your name (like the blue planet on mine) is called an avatar. and tkay basically put mine on for me. you will note no banners or other cool things for me. a blank mind = a blank reply set-up.

mjf, try the following...

Go to the top of the page, under where the big long banner pic saying 'Mandana Jones Net Message Board', click on the link that says 'My Controls.' This takes you to where the bits you can add and change are.

The 'Personal Profile' section of the 'My Controls' page is where the bits are that you're talking about:

'Edit avatar settings' changes the lil pic under your name(the avatar, as hop rightly says ), and 'Edit signature' changes the bit at the end of your post. The signature can be either words you write in there yourself or pics, but the avatar can only be a picture.

For avatar pics, you can use a pic that's already on your computer, a pic that's online, or a pic that ILMJN has put in the 'base gallery', and just follow the instructions on the page. If you want to use a photo that's on the internet, you need to copy the url of JUST that image, not the page it's on. For example, the url for this page is:

http://z4.invisionfree.com/Mandana_Jones_N...=254&st=0&#last

...but the url for the banner pic at the top that says 'Mandana Jones Net Message Board' is

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q53/runetunes/banner.jpg

...to get the url of a particular image, just right-click the mouse button on that image and click 'copy image location' (if you're using a Firefox browser, not sure what the wording is in Internet Explorer, but it would be something similar) and then paste it in to the 'Enter a URL...' box on the 'Edit Avatar Settings' page. Just make sure the pic you choose is not bigger than 150 x 150 pixels, or 25kb. You can check that by right-clicking on the pic and then clicking 'Properties.'

It's all a bit much to take in when you're new to it, and there is a bit more to add about it, but I hope that wasn't too confusing, and that it helps. If not, feel free to ask more questions!
