  • This is it guys. The site's done. We've shut down and locked out all the RP threads. They're still readable, but only for memories. OOC forums are still open so you can keep in contact with eachother, but other than that, MV's gone guys.

The admins of MV, and the admins of Feather Valley, the first affiliate on the list, have agreed to allowing you to drag over your characters and your plots from MV for those who are devastated by the loss of a RP forum. Though we suggest trying out the other Affiliates as well. Never know. A change of pace may be a good try.

    Rules
Advertising: Advertising other forums or websites it now allowed whatsoever. Any member breaking this rule will undergo immediate banishment. Do not send out PMs to other members to advertise. This is considered spamming, and is not tolerated, and will also result in immediate banning. You are allowed to put a text link to your own website or forums in your signature or forum profile (not your character profile). External links in signatures must only be a text link; font size for these links cannot exceed the default size, however 88x31 buttons (like our affiliates buttons) are acceptable.

External links must also adhere to our language and content rules. Links found directing towards sites that have questionable content will be removed promptly.

Affiliating: If you are interesting in affiliating with Maple Village, your website or forum must meet the following requirements: at least 40 members, at least 1,000 posts, clean layout, and adhere to MV's current content guidelines. If your site meets these standards we have, please PM either Ruthless, Windi or Ris for an inquiry. Do not post in any of our boards as a request. You will be automatically denied.

Backseat Modding: If you're not a moderator, don't correct another person. It is very rude and it's not your job. If you notice something that should be brought to the attention of Staff, PM a Staff member or report the post in question. Do not take it upon yourself to "handle" any situation. Not only is it rude, but it reflects poorly on how things work around here, even if you are doing it to "help" us. It's is not your job, plain and simple. Check out this page for a list of who the Moderators and Administrators are.

Double Posting: Not accepted whatsoever. Please make use of the EDIT button if you need to change something, or wait until someone else posts after you. Don't double post, and then include, "Sorry for the double post!" If you know it's frowned upon, don't do it. Use your noodle. In these forums, double posting is considered spam. Consistent spamming is discussed below.

Duplicate Accounts: Each user is allowed one account and one account only. If you lose or forget your password, contact an Administrator (Ruthless, Windi, or Ris). If you wish to change your account name, contact an Administrator (not all requests can or will be fulfilled). Do not ever create a second account for a second character. You can have a second character once you reach the rank of fisherman simply by adding that profile to your current topic. Duplicate accounts are immediately removed from the forums.

Flaming: Any flaming of MV, our members, Staff or affiliates is unacceptable. If you do not like a particular thing about the forums, PM a Staff member and we'll be glad to hear what you have to say. Immature rants ("It's not fair!" "No one will answer my question fast enough!" "I hate it here!") will be ignored, removed, and you will be dealt with in a grown-up manner.

Graphics, Artwork, and Requests: Please remember that the primary target audience of this guild is all ages. It's not just for teens. It's not just for adults. We aim to appeal to the younger set too. This means that we expect everyone to contribute to this atmosphere and leave the inappropriate material out. This includes things that are suggestive, violent and anything that has the potential to upset a young viewer. Please understand that we are not trying to stifle your expression. But please remember that this is not all about you. It would not be fair to make an exception to one. Do not pressure the graphic designers here into making something they do not think would be appropriate for MV. They have the right to refuse your request or to alter it so that it is no longer a problem. If you have to think about whether or not the image is appropriate...then it most likely isn't.

Language & Content: While MV is open to all ages, general and mature adult language is allowed to an extent. Only a few words are banned here; attempting to work around the word filter will result in immediate action against you. Grotesque words and descriptions for body parts, bodily functions, and sexual extravaganzas are not allowed, as we expect our members to have a little common sense as to where the line between appropriate and inappropriate is. Violence in role-plays must be kept to an extreme minimum, in both description and actions. A short fist fight is allowed, where as a bloody stabbing is not. If you are unsure, always contact a Staff member with questions. Aspects regarding politics, religion, and other hot topic issues are only allowed in the Debate Board. We do have word filters in place. Anyone seen trying to work around these filters will be put on modded posts immediately.

New Member FAQ And Tip Guide: All new members are expect to read the Tip Guide as an explanation on how things work in the world of role-playing here in Maple Village. This is to help understand the Staff’s expectations, and also goes a bit more in-depth of our rules. If you have any further questions after reading the Tip Guide, don’t hesitate to contact a Staff member.

Passwords: Do not share your MV forum password with anyone. You are responsible for your own account. If you share your forum password with someone and they use your account to damage the forum, you will also be held responsible. Do not share your password with anyone.

The staff of MV will never ask for your password. If anyone claiming to be on the MV staff asks for ANY password from you, alert a Staff member immediately.

Personal Messages (PMs): PMs are a great way to contact members who are offline and have off-topic chat. Because PMing is done through the MV forums, all the rules explained here are to be followed within the Personal Message system as well, which includes the content of your messages, language used, and advertising. Do not block any member of MV Staff from sending you PMs. Your posting rights will be instantly revoked when this is discovered, and not returned until your settings are set properly. You must keep your Inbox from getting too full, making you unable to receive messages. Again, your posting rights will be revoked until you clean out your PM folders.

Relocated Topics & Replies: If your thread was found to be questionable, it will be moved into a private forum that only the Staff can see. You can PM any Staff Member asking why your thread was moved, if you have not been PMed by a Staff member already. Do not post on the public forums questioning Staff's choices; this is very disrespectful and leaves the forums open to arguments and discord. Decisions about threads are not made lightly, and there will be a good reason why it was moved. Please take your questions into PM.

Signatures & Avatars: Along with following our content and language rules, all signatures and avatars must fall into the following size restriction. Avatars are automatically resized to fit the 100x100 rule. However you are responsible for your own signature. Signatures larger than 150x500 will be promptly removed without warning; any and all images, links, buttons, or quotes must fit within the below example:

Spam: An acronym for Short Pointless Annoying Messages. Spam posts will be deleted with a warning. Further action will be taken if necessary. Here, QUALITY is worth more than QUANTITY. Spamming also includes endlessly PMing other members of these forums against their wishes and taking threads and subjects off-topic deliberately.

    Punishment Levels

The level of punishment depends on the infringed action. For example, repeated double posting might start as a warning. Yet inappropriate, sexual posts/graphics would result in an instant ban, whether it would be temporary or not depends on the severity of the issue.

Warnings: This is through a simple PM from Staff. We have ways of knowing if a PM was received and read, so none of you can play the "I never got it," card.

Moderated Posts: All posts and topics you make will appear once approved by Staff or a Moderator.

Temporary Banning/Suspension: No posting, no PM-ing, heck, no reading.

Rank Degrade: If the situation calls for it, you can go from a Carpenter down to a Shopkeeper.

Permanent Banning: Enough said. Obviously, the earlier punishments had no effect.

Who to contact about the rules:
