Dear chess fans,
The leaves are changing which makes a perfect time for a chess tournament in Northern Michigan. TC chess's next event will take place Saturday Oct. 17th in Mesick at Greg Baileys house. The addressis104 E. Adelbert st., Mesick MI 49668.We feel this a great venue for a event and am very thankful Greg has decided to donate his time and space for this event. The details will remain the same with the structure being a 4 round swiss with a g-45 time control. Players are encouraged to bring sets and clocks but this is not mandatory. Registration will be between 9-10 and rounds will start shortly after. Also, even though uscf membership is required the top finishing unrated player will win a free one year membership. Our tournament was well attended with eight players, five of which were 1600+! Duane Croel took first with a perfect 4-0 including wins over Greg Bailey(1945) and yours truley Joe Meyer(1769). I took second with 3-1 and third was half the field with 2-2. The event had many sharp fighting games and should be rated within the next few days. Congrats again to Duane, I'm looking forward to exacting my revenge at our next event (hopefully).

glad to hear the tourney turnout was a success...congrats to Duane and yourself for the good results!...sorry i couldnt make it...hope to make the next...happened to notice the round robin quick tourney we had a couple of months ago hadnt been rated yet...was there a problem or hangup delaying the rating...anyway congrats once again and hope to be at the next...later, Eddie B.
