Title: Members validating

Wilfrid - April 5, 2004 09:02 PM (GMT)
If anyone knows who "selosse" is, please PM me - I asked him/her how they found us, but haven't received a reply.

Adam - April 6, 2004 12:16 PM (GMT)
No idea, but you need to clear out your mailbox.

Slapsie Maxie - April 6, 2004 01:16 PM (GMT)
I know Howler is asking to join OA. it could be him

Perhaps not enough people on Chowhound understand his ref's to "Bangla's"

It could be anyone.

Orik - April 9, 2004 01:04 PM (GMT)
can anyone tell me who sadiedkh might be?

cabrales - April 9, 2004 01:17 PM (GMT)
Didn't there used to be a poster called selosse on one of the sites we previously encountered? I vaguely remember that as having been the only occasion when I thought the username was one I would have chosen, in lieu of my username.

I was guessing selosse could be you, but we wrote him/her to enquire about their identity and received no response.

I don't recall the name. I e-mailed him/her to ask how he/she found the site, but as there's been no reply...

That's part of why I posted. I would have used that name (or valdeon), if cabrales had to be relinquished. I didn't want people to think I was trying to sign on as a different user prior to my validation. (Why else would I post about another user's validation? I do recall such a poster -- not me). Since I began using the username cabrales, I've posted only under it. (My old, old username on eG was chaudfroidoeuf)

I only intend to post using my existing style, so I would have been quickly uncovered even whilst posting under any other user name. But it was non-starter to switch names, in my mind ;)

Consider the glowering shadow of suspicion lifted.

cabrales - April 9, 2004 04:58 PM (GMT)
What does it say when the two board administrators here know what username I would have chosen in substitution for my longstanding username?

I suppose selosse might start posting about Blue Hill and then the suspicion would be reimposed. <_<

Those of you who have not seen The Sopranos should remedy this.

From this article, which turned up near the top of a Google search:
Stugots: from stu cazzo or u' cazzu, the testicles. Tony Soprano's boat is The Stugots.
Edit: The article points to this official HBO dictionary of Mob slang.

Growing up in Brooklyn as a half Italian American, I can say with some certainty that the term was used in a perjorative sense. usually to deride a posited concept.
( the current term "Bullshit" is a close enough approximation). Though the term could be hurled *at* someone as a personal insult.

QUOTE
Vinny--Mantle's gonna go five fer five today.  I just know it

Vito-- ahhhh stugots!, you don' know nothing.  Mantle can't hit fer shit anymore.

OR

Vito--Fuckin' stugots.  You don' know shit about baseball.

Well...That's how I recall it.

edit: But it's pronounced..."schtu-gahts"

Doesn't Brad go with Janet? Or, is it Jennifer? And didn't Lyle have a go with Julia?
