Title: Death of Atrus
Description: possible spoilers
Atrus05 - May 8, 2005 02:46 AM (GMT)
hey,In Myst 5 will Atrus die, cause I think in Uru Yeesha mentions something about her parents death
cfischer83 - May 8, 2005 03:16 AM (GMT)
That's what I've been afraid of since I heard it was the last one!!!!!!! :|
That would be just a horrible way to end it IMO.
mystmum - May 8, 2005 08:46 AM (GMT)
Noooooooooooooooooooo!
They can't kill off Atrus!! That's just wrong.
cfischer83 - May 8, 2005 05:57 PM (GMT)
Maybe someone should start a petition about that! ;)
Atrus05 - May 8, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
Thats my fear too...the death of Atrus..I know Yessha mentioned it in Uru and if its true then he'll die in End of Ages..hope I'm wrong though
Dicemaster Slayer - May 19, 2005 09:51 PM (GMT)
No way. They can't kill off Atrus. THIS ISNT REALITY TV!!! Or is it :scared: :gak:
Anyway, how could they kill off Atrus? He should either die of natural causes (with Yeesha witnessing it just like end of Revelation), or do something stupid. If they have Gehn kill him, I'll freak.
And Frozen knows what it's like when I freak...

that's the problem with the storyline, it has to go one way.
perfect series of games? you play Myst, then Riven. The Riven structure changes because you played Myst. If you didn't play Myst, then maybe you stumble on the D'ni Linking Book (and Atrus doesn't say "you returned", something else). Someone back me up here.
Anyway with Atrus*AHEM! RIVEN SPOILERS AND OTHERS!* dying in one of the bad endings. then Exile maybe won't play till you "win" Riven? You trap Gehn but don't save Catherine. Atrus sad. So Exile won't see the birth of Yeesha, maybe some other way... again, DS, back me up.
CK9 - July 8, 2005 05:06 AM (GMT)
That's the only flaw with the game, you get a bad ending, it's like everything afterwards never heppens
Dicemaster Slayer - July 8, 2005 02:11 PM (GMT)
Well, I see that Myst could take that route a little bit. You don't get the white page, the Linking Book isn't finished. But you're still there, and he could say something different instead of: (i'm done asking, click attached link, .wma file).
I'm curious as to what happens between Riven and Exile primarily, that could take months to do. As well, the time between Exile and Revelation is a blur, too, mostly with what does the Stranger do in that time.
Wait, Exile's bad ending (that doesn't involve
*EXILE SPOILERs (should we just put this in the subtitle for the thread?*
you getting bashed in the head by Savvedro), is you not returning with the book (i guess you not freeing savvedro counts too, i dont think so).
If we assume the Releeshahn book was the Descriptive (if the rest of Revelation-era Tomahna is done, why not store it somewhere else?), then the link is at least lost to changes (since no ending involes Savvedro burning it, just dropping it). If Releeshahn is done, since the D'ni have relocated, why wouldn't Atrus have a Linking Book or two to Releeshahn? That way, you link there, make a new Age, relocate AGAIN, and this time make the protective dome around the Descriptive a little more, well, protective.
Note to self: stop thinking this much over summer

this is true...
but how about Uru? it kinda drags you along with the storyline almost. every time I've tried, there is NO way to "lose" the game. every puzzle has some way to reset it (except perhaps the Kadish ring puzzles)
CK9 - July 9, 2005 07:01 PM (GMT)
real quick note: adding to subtitle to thread: possible spoilers
Marina - July 9, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
possible huh?
I'd say "spoilers", just spoilers
CK9 - July 9, 2005 07:11 PM (GMT)
I know, but the thread starts without spoilers, and some of the ones I've seen dopn't give away much
Marina - July 9, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
hmmm... well, some I've seen do give away a bit much, but no tags....
no, i dont remember where
CK9 - July 9, 2005 07:17 PM (GMT)
WE need to find some kind of coding...like the one on dpwr that keeps it hidden until clicked...CF should ask Al about that
Marina - July 9, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
i remember seeing one in the main Invision collection, but there's so many clips in there I wouldn't remember where to start
cfischer83 - July 10, 2005 01:23 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure it's available for Invisionfree but I will put it on my forum 'to do' list :|
CK9 - July 10, 2005 01:31 AM (GMT)
Marina - July 10, 2005 05:06 PM (GMT)
that hasn't happened yet....
CK9 - July 10, 2005 08:21 PM (GMT)
cfischer83 - July 11, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
You haven't asked that X-person yet? I'm only waiting on you for the shoutbox :tomato:
So other than that I have one thing on my to do list :D
Dicemaster Slayer - July 11, 2005 01:04 PM (GMT)
the xfir guy?
BTW, always curious, what's the point of having xaround everythingx?
Marina - July 11, 2005 06:42 PM (GMT)
I assume it's much like _underlining_ something, or *italicizing* something, though we frequently use *asterisks* for actions...
I suppose x is for bolding something
cfischer83 - July 14, 2005 06:36 AM (GMT)
I can't remember who it was, but it's from a band who believes in never consuming alcohol and smoking anything.
Dicemaster Slayer - July 14, 2005 03:44 PM (GMT)
:eyebrow: interesting.....
CK9 - July 14, 2005 04:48 PM (GMT)
I assumed you were going to ask :|
Dicemaster Slayer - July 15, 2005 03:10 PM (GMT)
well, it's not quite the place to discuss who started it as much as it is why it became so commonplace.
Mwyn - September 6, 2006 02:20 AM (GMT)
It doesn't really matter if they kill off atrus in this one though because It's the last game. Dead or not it won't matter because either way, you won't be seeing him in any new myst games anyway. If they were going to kill him off and still make a myst 6,7,and 8, then that would suck.
