Title: Mysthillarium IX
Description: Fun & Madness...
Joewood - October 8, 2004 12:24 PM (GMT)
It had been such a long long time since strange and illogical things had happened to her that she had forgotten that sense of total confusion and adrenalin rush that came with it, the will to survive prevailed each time…
Joelle had gone to bed as usual listening to her Paul McKenna CD the words had been far more hypnotic than usual and very quickly she felt like she was floating above her bed and this had never happened before. As the voice on the CD pulled her further into the unknown she became aware that her environment was changing. The temperature was dropping rapidly and she hated the cold, the moisture in the air left her feeling damp and miserable but before she could react the temperature started to rise again and she started to relax…
Images of a strange yet beautiful world flashed before her eyes the views were breathtaking a gentle sea was lapping a golden beach, well more orange than golden, dotted with palm trees, small huts were spread out throughout the palm trees but she got a sense of emptiness as if this place had been deserted long ago…
Through the palm trees she spotted a lagoon with a cascading waterfall incredibly colourful birds circled above every once in a while one or the other would swoop down into the water. She was so taken by these beautiful elegant birds but something caught her eye and she turned to see what it was…

"Where in da heck am I?" she says
Rebbe - October 12, 2004 07:15 PM (GMT)
... as she floated on, still enjoying the pleasant sounds of Paul McKenna (Paul McWho? :|). Yet, she had heard something, and it disturbed her. A rumbling noise, in the distance. She squinted against the sunlight. It seemed as if, somewhere above the ocean, something else floated. Another person, weightless in the air? She looked harder. Yes, it was a person, and it came closer. As it approached, the rumbling noise got louder. She thought she could distinguish... music? Guitars... she heard. Drums, loud and fast. Shrieking noises... was someone strangling a pig? No, it was a singer, sort of. The person was still too far away to see properly, but already this persons music could be heard louder than her own soothing sounds of Paul McKenna. It annoyed her. Who could this be?
As the other person floated nearer and the noise grew louder, JoeWood could distuingish some of its features. It looked as if the person was banging his (or her?) head, his (or her?) fist raised in the air... Who is that, thought Joelle, totally interrupted and oblivious of the serene beaty of the island below her. And what's that on his feet? Surely not...
Rebbe hadn't noticed Joewood yet, busy as he was, banging his head, trying to sing along and acting generally stupid whilst floating. And so, he crashed into her, resulting in them both tumbling down towards the island. As they fell, faster and faster, he noticed who had just interrupted his air guitar solo. "Hi Joelle. You here? What a coincidence!" He remarked sheepishly. "Rebbe, you IDIOT! we're falling, if you haven't noticed!!" She yelled "...and what's that noise!??"
"Judas Priest, pretty cool huh?" Rebbe replied "The album is called Painkiller!"
"Painkiller? I'm afraid we'll need a couple of those if we are going to hit the rocks in a couple of seconds..."

“And there won’t be much of an adventure if we both die” she yelled at Rebbe trying to be heard over the wind… The wind, of course in her youth Joewood had skydived she had used the winds currents to make the freefall last longer and they could do the same now. She got as close to Rebbe as she could and grabbed hold of him before yelling at the top of her lungs “use the winds currents to make the free fall last longer and aim for the sea.” Rebbe nodded his head that he had understood her instructions. The next few minutes were the most hair-raising of Rebbe’s life and gave a whole new meaning to extreme sport… Surprisingly the landing in the water was soft and gently, as if the water had a cushioning effect. They both got up and brushed them selves down and then looked at each other in utter shock and disbelief they were literally standing on the water. How could this be?
“Now what” asked a confused Rebbe, “We walk to the beach, what else!” responded and equally confused Joelle…

However, what stood on the beach amazed them. The island was not your typical beach and a palm tree. The island had tall cliffs, stretching so high into the sky that you couldn't see what was on top. The beach was just in front of the cliff. In the rock wall, there was a clear hole cut out. In fact, it looked like a man-made tunnel into the rock. A wierd device was jammed into the side of this tunnel; it looked like someone stuck a big marble onto a ping-pong paddle. When Joelle touched it, it began to glow, illuminating the tunnel just far enough to see another of these "paddle lights." Deciding there wasn't much else to do, they touched this one, and continued on.
Eventually, they came to a point where the tunnel had caved-in. They had so far activated several paddle lights, and, seeing that there wasn't anywhere else to go, they turned back.
What awaited them further down the tunnel suprised them further...
A door - unmistakably a door - had been carved into the rock. A small handle protruded from the door, and it swung open to cover the rest of the tunnel. In this new tunnel, there were many paddle lights, all previously activated. They followed the tunnel, feeling that this place was familiar, but couldn't be. Both thought they had seen it in some computer game, but what was that called...

riven. boy i wish i could play riven right now but i cant because its screwed up!!!!i dont know why...to continue the story, they walked down the newly-uncoverd cave, past more paddle lights, and they eventuelly came to a circular room. they were standing in the middle of a circle of stone pillars with sketchings of animals on them. rebbe shoved one of the stone pillars with her favorite animal, a fish, on it. it slowly sank in to the ground. nothing happened, they pushed one that looked like a bird, and one that looked like an alligator still nothing happened. they were very confused. suddenely, joelle cried out in revelation...
Dicemaster Slayer - October 26, 2004 01:15 AM (GMT)
[out of topic, but you repeated yourself. i know you have a problem, make a topic in the general discussion]
"This is, like, exactly like Riven! You know, that game we once played?"
"Yeah, it does look familiar..."
Deciding that this must be like the game, they pulled up the two stones they got wrong and pushed the four right ones. Of course, we all know what comes next...
The wall of water, more of a bowl, really, rippled, following channels along the walls until it had disappeared from the front wall, and had materialized in the back, covering the entrance. At the same time, a door opened in the wall and a shelf slided out. Both of them knew what this was; the shelf had a linking book on it. Without looking, they put their hands on the Gateway Image. But they didn't end up on the Moiety Age as they predicted...
[no worries xcross, we'll figure it out...]
xcrosscutx - October 26, 2004 10:43 AM (GMT)
[why, thank u, its nice to know that, dice]
...but they had in fact landed in the 233rd age. when they materilized, the cage was actually open and gehn was nowhere in sight. so they walked away from the linking spot and started searching aroung. everything looked like it had been burnt to a crisp! after searching for anything useful, they decided to see what was in the 5 linking books around the cage spot. the only ones that were identified were a linking book back to the paddle light hall back on the island, and the other one was a book to the stoneship age, and another one was a blurred linking book to what looked like voltaic, the other twos linking panels showed...
Dicemaster Slayer - October 26, 2004 09:31 PM (GMT)
...a dark Age, with canyon walls all around and a lake in the middle. In the middle of this lake was a single pedestal with a book on it. It was a pretty thick book. The last book showed another dark Age, but with trees stretching into the sky, fireflies dancing around glowing mushrooms. If the two of them didn't know better, they would say it was the forest on Jungle Island from Riven, but it wasn't. It was a whole separate Age. It looked as if someone had copied the descriptions for that particular Riven island into another book. There was a hut in this forest, windows showing flickering light inside. Joelle and Rebbe looked at each other, as if having a silent converstion on which book to use...
xcrosscutx - October 26, 2004 11:06 PM (GMT)
...so they decided to take the paddle light hall linking book with them and to link to the lake/canyon age. when they got there, they where facing the lake and they where on the oposite side of where the pathway lead to the thick book. they checked to see if the paddle light hall book was still with them and it was. so they headed around the lake and on their way there, thy found 3 sheets of old soaked paper. the first page seemed to be a note where water had blurred the ink in many places. the note read "i dont know who will be reading this but i (blur) and my name (blur). this whole age of (blur) is collapsing along with (blur). if my calculations are correct, this island will (blur) and in result will look like one big crater. you must help. find the (blur) and the book for it too. it might sink in the water or just might (blur). please help. cordially, (blur). the two other pages had many drawings and writings on it and those pages said...
Dicemaster Slayer - October 27, 2004 09:21 PM (GMT)
[note to CF, make the background slightly darker, i want to use gray]
...the first page also had a note on it where water had blurred most of the words:
i have seen the <blur>. what is truly is or <blur> it is here i don't <blur>. this Age will collapse in <blur, looks like a small number> days. find the missing <rest is blurred>.
the other page had drawings of the canyon, and a detailed sketch of what would happen to the Age when it collapsed. the drawing showed...
xcrosscutx - October 27, 2004 10:53 PM (GMT)
the whole age except that it had many different isle and island leading off of the canyon walls. it showed what look like tectonic plates under it and it was written next to it that the magma would push up on one plate and it would create an imbalance and all the landforms would sink except for the lake. the other page had tons of lines of numbers on it. they kept the pages and continue their journey to the Book. when they finally got to it, they stared with amazement at the sight that stood before them. the linking panel...

Marina - January 26, 2005 03:03 AM (GMT)
"What the??" Joelle said.
The two of them stared at the book for a while, wondering whether or not it was actually a link back to Riven....
... but since neither of them could read the symbols... :bored:
Dicemaster Slayer - January 29, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
"One, two, three, shoot!" as they played a game of rock paper scissors.
Eventually, they decided to use the book.
xcrosscutx - February 4, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
as they felt the tingling feeling on their palm and they fell into the page, everything turned black. usually they would come to, but nothing happened. they tried to yell for each other, but they felt like it was in a dream. no matter how hard they tried, there was no sound. they tried to walk around, but their legs felt paralyzed. they wondered what would happen to them. had they accidently used a trap book?
Marina - February 4, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
all they could see was a tiny circle in the far distance...
Fritzken - May 3, 2005 11:26 AM (GMT)
The circle wobbled slightly. It glowed light bluish and occasionally it seemed to twitch.
Joelle tried again to speak to Rebbe... to ask him what he made of this circle. But to no avail. She couldn't utter a single word. And she wasn't even sure if Rebbe was still with her, as she could neither see or hear him.
This might well be how anyone would feel inside a prison book. Already Joelle was feeling like she'd been trapped in this room for month. "Bring ... me ... the blue ... pages" she muttered, not knowing what else to do. And right at this moment the circle disappeared. That last ray of hope... gone.
"What blue pages?" she heard someone say as a door opened where the glowing circle had been before. "And what do you need any paper for? You look starved. Shouldn't I rather bring you a pizza or maybe some pasta? Not that I would know where to get it around here, but..."
"Fritzken?" Joelle and Rebbe shouted in unisono. "What are you doing here?" The open door had seemingly removed the sound blockage.
"If only I knew. There I was in Vice City, returning to the Well Stacked Pizza after managing ten deliveries in a row. Did wonders to my health, that job. And all of a sudden I'm swooped right off my scooter. At first I thought I'd hit an ambulance or something. But then I notice I'm in this blue lit room. I mean that one..." Fritzken pointed over his shoulder.
"Could you spare us the details, Fritzken," Rebbe pleaded, "and help us out of here?"
"Yeah, sure. What kind of help do you need?" And with this he turned around and switched on the light in the small cell. "Want me to drive you anywhere? I can drive just about anything now. Except for the ambulance. It's so easy to topple..."
"But the Banshee is georgeous. And I can fly too. Have you been to the film studio yet?"
"Will you please stop raving, Fritzken and help us?"
"It's true, ya know? They DID fake the moon landing. I've seen it. The whole set. It's still there. And a UFO..."
"Sorry, what do you want? Blue pages? Where can I find them? In one of the filing cabinets next door? Would you like a lollipop? I found some lollipops in one of the drawers. Only I think I remember that they have some side effects."
Rebbe had enough of Fritzkens yaking. He felt a strong urge to grab him by his lapels and shake some sense into him, so he got up and... starteled. He could move! Full of joy Rebbe burst into an air guitar solo, dancing around the little cell, falling to his knees for the final cord, bending over backwards.
Joelle shook her head with a sorry expression on her face. This was just not like her previous adventures. Not at all... And thinking of what might lie ahead of her she wondered how she would survive this one, with only Rebbe and this Pizzaboy to accompany her. And, still weary and numb from her long imprisonment, she got up and walked through the door.
Emmexx - May 2, 2007 08:17 AM (GMT)
The air in front of Joelle started to waver as if the image in front of her was some imaginary image not unlike an oasis. A tall man with blue eys and a knowing smile greeted Joelle's inquisitive look.
"Long time no see!" said the man who awakened memories in Joelle's deep subconscious mind.He stood poised as iff he was holding an invisible book - his right hand still reaching out to touch the invisible page, now unseen...
...think back - she thought to herself, I know that voice, those eyes,.... less gray hair... maybe subtract 5 years.... wait... the accent - OF COURSE!! Could she be dreaming! This couldn't possibly be! Not since the days of the oringinal adventures when the two famed Forumites had first set out on the fist steps to ... well ... diabolical adventures.
He dropped his hands and seemed to become.. more real!
"You just teleported here didn't you? Using a linking book!"
"Of course I did - how else to reach you across time and space - though you have been lost for some time - you are all stuck in a time warp - what seems like minutes passed here in this world are months - sometimes years, gone by in the other worlds - I have come to lead you out, but we must hurry!"
"But I know you... you're... the blue wizard! Emmex! ... err... MX! Right?"
"That was long ago -I have been promoted since then... I now hold a double X rank... I am now called Emmexx. Who lse is here with you?"
Joelle just stared dumbfounded... here rigt in front of her stood the Emmex - THE .. M.X. was she dreaming? Could this really be happening! She shook her head and looked agin... still he was there, a faint smile on his lips... THIS WAS REAL!
EMMEX had returned!!!!
