I run a program called Windowblinds by Stardock. It basically skins most of the windows GUI and most other applications' GUIs. The semi-transparent taskbar and window frames can be achieved (depending on the skin) only in version 5 or higher. I'm not totally sure, but I think you can download a trial version of Windowblinds, although I'm not sure how limited it might be in features. But you can buy the program for something like $20 from Stardock, and there are tons of skins to choose from.

I figured it was WindowBlinds... I messed around with that for a while. For being a Mac-basher, I kinda got attached to their iSkin stuff....

I would post a desktop, but there's really nothing on it, just a command prompt, the standard icons, a link to here, of course, and that's it. The other monitors are nothing but black and white code. That and I don't have a print screen function, and am admittedly too lazy to go find one.
Fallstar, I love that background... Oh, and yours is good too, Dice. Though I'd edit your "gotten around" to something a little more grammatically precise, like "managed". |

Well, my desktop hasn't changed since I uploaded the pic, but the stuff I have, has....
Took the time to download WMP only to find I need an OS upgrade to use it. Drat. Also have downloaded WindowBlinds 5, and now I'm wondering what skin Fallstar used in the pic. |

That would be Ecliz Deluxe by JJYing. It's a great skin, easy to use everyday. Don't forget that it comes with several sub-styles, which you can access via drop-down list on your Windowblinds preview/chooser window. I prefer compact start menus, but this one doesn't come with that.
Too bad about the WMP 11 not working.  |

Wow... not to be impudent, but could you have some more riven village pics in there?
I'd post my July desktop, only, well, nothing's changed..... I did check out that skin; I guess I'm just too used to my blue Classic theme. Stupid nostalgia. Why'd I have to use Win95 first?? Eh, don't answer that.  |

 Cory, have you tried the trial version of Windowblinds? I don't think it's time-limited, but possibly some of the features might be disabled. |

 where'd everybody go? Anyhoo...it's now a new month (Happy November y'all) Microsoft has launched their official Zune website (mp3 player for those who don't know), and they are offering a Zune-esque Windows XP Theme, which is basically the windows skin and a wallpaper. The wallpaper is a bit dorky and the skin is...well...a bit so-so, not very exciting, especially compared to Windowblinds. But this month's screenie showcases the Zune them, accompanied by one of my Uru wallpapers. ...I might still try windows blinds. I really like the look of it! Much better than anything Mac has come out with (who are only known as 'flashy' in the first place). |
