Hi Willy,

Here are the responses to the additional questions you had regarding the National Championships.

Willy we are very motivated to make Rockford a table tennis destination. If you should need any further information please don’t hesitate to ask.

1).Will we be sharing the facility with any other activity at any point during the 4 day period Thursday through Sunday? Just concerned about noise pollution as Table Tennis is a lot like Tennis in certain situations so if there is a nearby Volleyball/Basketball tournament it could disturb the players.

ANSWER: There will be no other events taking place at the Forest City Tennis Center the same time as the Table Tennis Championships. However there could be some other activities in the racket ball courts, exercise room, or upstairs workout room but the noise is not a factor due to the remoteness of these locations. Should this pose an issue please contact us.

2) Do you all know when we could begin with the set up process should we choose your bid? What day and time?

ANSWER: Equipment can be offloaded from the trucks on Wednesday and stored in the rear of the building with setup beginning Thursday 8 am.

3) Many times we have done a standard agreement with the host organizer and NCTTA of a win/loss 50/50 agreement. It keeps both parties working towards a common goal, is this something that you all are able to do? If not that is ok too, we have done it both with a contract or without a contract like this.

ANSWER: Yes this is agreeable to the Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

4) Who signs the contract with your respective facility? Us or you all? We have done it both ways, but we are just curious to see how you all do it in your areas.

ANSWER: Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Forest City Tennis Center and Clock Tower Resort as the host hotel.

5) Some states allow non for profit organizations to waive sales tax. For instance we are in Texas for 2012 and we have the ability to waive sales tax. Does your state have such stipulations or can a non for profit like NCTTA waive sales tax?

ANSWER: Non-profits do not pay sales tax in Illinois.

Hi Willy,

Below are the answers to your questions should you need further clarification just let me know. We want to do everything we can to make this a great event for you.

ROCKFORD: The bus service that comes from O'Hare airport what other options are there available from say Midway or is it just from O'Hare?

Chicago O’Hare airport is the main airport for the shuttle service, if you specifically have someone coming in at Midway we can discuss options although O’Hare is a much easier option for your attendees. Upon the date of the event we are able to contact Van Galder to run an additional bus line for timely pick-ups and departures.

If people were to fly into Rockford airport what transportation options are there to the clock tower? How far is the distance?

ROCKFORD: The distance is about 15 miles. We will get volunteers to assist in transporting guests from the Rockford Airport to the Clock Tower Resort.

Also how big are the shuttles that come from O’Hare to Rockford, are any ADA seating available?

ROCKFORD: The Van Galder buses hold 56 passengers with ADA capability.

Also I may have missed it but how many Table Tennis tournaments have been done at your complex in the last 2 years?

ROCKFORD: One major tournament at the same facility in May of 2011 with 32 tournament tables and 3 -4 per year for the past 15 years in a facility ½ mile away.

Is it possible to bring in food to the venue for Athlete/Staff lunches? What is the venue rule on that? We typically like to have boxed lunches or food available to our athletes during the competition duration.

ROCKFORD: Yes, we can arrange for food to be brought in such as box lunches. In addition we have met with the restaurant at the Clock Tower on having them do the lunch program for the athletes and staff. Venue rule is no food on the playing courts but there is other space in which to eat.
